Q: Overweight in utilities/pipelines. Took profits on CPX & AQN to reduce position and to buy in the consumer non-cyclial space. I currently hold WMT & VGG. I would like to add pure non-cyclical. What’s your opinion on PKI & PLC? Or would you suggest something else.

Q: I am wondering about the sector allocation of these two SU and PKI. Given that they are both vertically integrated could they each be split between energy producers and consumer discretionary some how. It will create some room in the energy sector for a couple of more companies like WCP and VET. If SU and PKI could be split what would the split be on each one.

Q: I would appreciate your thoughts on the weak price performance of PBH stock. PKI by contrast is much stronger although the metrics of PBH are at least comparable. For example both have high debt over 120% of equity. Both have forward earnings growth over 30% and both trade on a forward PE below the 5 year low PE. The big difference is the price action. PKI trades close to median price that analysts estimate for next year whereas PBH is well below those estimates. I am assuming you prefer the good price momentum of PKI and, all being equal, you would go with PKI despite the apparent better value in PBH? Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Q: I am a growth investor with an 8 to 10 year timeline. Regardless of sector weightings, in the current market would you either start a new half position in Parkland Fuel OR top up to from a 4% to a full 5% weighting in Kinaxis, Savaria Spin Master and Premium Brands? Thanks in advance, Greg.

Q: I have substantial capital gains on both these securities in both my cash account and in my TFSA. I propose to make some transfers in kind from (in Dec.) and to (in Jan.) using the holdings in the cash account. I would like to sell some of one or the other of PKI or NFI from the cash account now and use those proceeds to buy the other in the cash account. The question is -- of these two, which do you think has the better prospects over the next 24 to 30 months? I appreciate that I'm dealing with different sectors and will keep my diversification in mind. Thanks for your thoughts, they always help. Bill

Q: Hello,

Long time holder of PKI and SPB. In the past I have watched PKI bounce around and jump up in price and then back down because earnings were weather related (good or bad) and/or input related (ie. contract spreads). Now with the recent price increase (very happy) is it because of their move into convenience stores or is their underlying profit seen to be more "permanent" than "transitory"? Does SPB carry similar characteristics as PKI so that under the right circumstances, they could see a large price increase as well?

Thanks,

Robert
