Q: Now that Shell have snapped up ARX what are all the remaining Canadian companies with big gas and liquids reserves in the Montnery Formation? I am looking for large reserves, strong and growing dividends and a track record of good management. Which would you invest in?

I sold the only energy stock (ARX) that I had in my
portfolio after it was announced that it has been acquired by Shell. Would you please recommend a Cdn stock (or stocks) to replace ARX.

Q: Sorry for the " subquestions" but all are related to the same stock + the same % of energy investments..What is the best option in my RRSP ? 1) sell now 2) wait for the Shell acquisition and then : a) keep the cash + Shell stocks or b) Sell Shell stocks in order to buy an equivalent US large oil Cie for nontaxable dividends ( XOM ? etc..).

Q: I have read your answers to the many questions on arx. Can you expand on your thesis that no one would want to get into a bidding war with Shell for arc resources? Why would CNQ or CVE not throw in a higher bid for ARC if they thought there was value in getting arc for let's say, less than $40 Can per share. Certainly CNQ has the financial abiltiy to do a large acquistion!? Is it because Shell is part owner of the LNG Canada export facility? This take overall will be good for me but I do think that ARC shares are worth more the $32 and change, since condensates are sky high which is good for ARC and nat gas is not that bad. Why is management wanting to turn over the reigns to Shell? Are they old and tired? Or is this Kakwa issue bigger than we think and they need Shell's expertise to dig them out of hole?

Q: Based on Shell's offer, is $31 "the right price" if one were to sell ARX ? It seems to be trading in a range of $30.90 - $31.99 at time of writing. Is it actually possible to narrow down that range to what shares should be worth at this point ?

Q: I have held Arx at a cost of about $13 since it was an income trust.I plan to take the deal withe Shell.
Am i correct in assuming the only the only immediate gains tax will be on the $8.20 cash per share.

Q: I will not be holding Shell after this. Short on Industrial and Financial names. Any suggestions on good replacement. This is a good time to reduce my energy exposure as it is too high.

Q: I took position simultaneously in those 2 stocks a few months ago for : 1) diversification in the energy sector 2) future potential vs IA .I am surprised that EXE is lagging so much ( - 13%) compared to ARX ( +5%), considering that : it is a larger Cie, closer to terminals , number 1 producer in the USA , etc...your general feedback,and your point of view vs long term safe investments shall be very appreciated .. Q: A Wall street Journal article today paint a dire picture for LNG supply for the next few years. "Even if the Trump administration and Iran agree to end the war soon, the consequences for the LNG market will be long-lasting—and even more profound than for oil, experts say."
Even if the war ends overnight, it will take the gas market much longer to return to normal than oil,” A lot of the slack in the system used to be picked up by LNG, so the knock-on effects are massive.

My question: what stocks do you see that will benefit from this shortage of LNG?

Q: Arx has hit the same resistance levels ie $26 several times in the last few months. It can't seem to break through.
Any hope here or is there a problem on the balance sheet etc ?

Q: I have these oil and gas companies, a number of them since covid so have enjoyed good dividends and lots of upside. I have recently read about being in or going into a commodity super cycle, as well as the idea of the "Halo" trade which you have written about. So the question for me is about selling - something I am not good at! When looking at the charts of many of these stocks they have long cycles of going up and then down quite severely over a six to nine year cycle. What do we look for as far as it being time to sell? Are we getting to that peak now or do you think we have a long runway still to come? Thanks so much?
