Q: Want to generate some cash in a RESP. overweight oil and gas in this fund. trying to decide what to sell. Do I trim a little from white cap, head water, and freehold or sell reits.

Q: What are your current favorite small cap, and mid cap energy names ? The PSCE ETF covers a good selection of US names. Is there a similar TSX listed ETF ?

Q: Would it be prudent to reduce energy exposure at this time? My wives RRIF account holds ARX, TOU, & FRU they represent 21.8% of the portfolio. My RRIF account holds ARX, TOU, HWX, PPL, OBE, & PD they represent 33.3 % of the portfolio, PPL alone is 15% of the total portfolio. I know I should reduce this exposure what would you suggest?

Q: It’s seems that the stock is enjoying its marked rise at this time , Is it due to possible merge or a buy from other company? It’s apparently much above its book value and by itself its future growth will not be marked. Is it indeed overvalued and could be sold ? The dividend is good so it could be kept as a dividend payer as one wait for buyout or a merger. What is your opinion on thei stock at this time ?

Q: Hello,
I own the following O&G producers and this is about 12.5% of the portfolio.
CNQ 2%, Tour 2%, Meg 2%, TVE 2.5%, WCP 1.5%, HWX 1%, Ath 1.5%
I want to raise cash and would probably sell about half.

My view point is from a conservative, retired senior, but looking through next 2-5 years with these. I think the best ones to keep are CNQ, Tourmaline, Tamarack Valley and Meg - maybe sell off TVE if good gains over next year or two.
Would like your opinion on what to sell/hold.
Do you agree or perhaps would you reduce all evenly? (I prefer to manage at a few less stocks.)

Would you exchange any stock or have other other recommendations?

How is it possible (or fair) that HWX is having a private placement at 22 cents per share, when the stock is over $^. Isn't that very dilutive for present shareholders? See part of NR below

I currently own a number of different energy stocks of which most are in the OIL sector. In this current investment environment, the Gas sector seems to offer a better risk reward ratio and I would like to better balance my Oil/Gas stock split.

Question 1. Do you agree that Natural Gas stocks currently offer a better potential return than OIL stocks over the next few years?

I am currently treading water in TVE. I understand that HWX is also a Clearwater producer. In comparing the two, HWX has more production, much higher ROE, lower debt, higher margin, lower PE and higher dividend. Would you sell TVE and buy HWX?

Q: I currently own each of these oil & gas industry stocks. Are they well positioned for any potential consolidation/takeover activity that is rumored to occur as a followup from the XOM Pioneer story? Which firms are best positioned for takeover/merger/consolidation?

Q: Inevitably, when someone asks about the best NG companies in Canada, TOU and ARX are normally in the mix. So setting those two aside, I would appreciate your opinion on three other stocks in that sector that don't receive nearly as much attention. The stocks in question are Headwater Exploration, Spartan Delta and Pine Cliff Energy.
