Q: Why the sudden drop in the share price yesterday? Is it related to the flight from small growth stocks?

Q: Hello Team,
I was wondering if you could rank the attached 12 companies from 1 - 12. I have some money to deploy in my cash account and already own all 12 in my TFSA/RRSP. Will be a 3 year hold.
No worries on size, risk or industry, looking for best returns only.
Thanks!

Q: This question is more about Portfolio Analytics.
Portfolio Analytics indicated I was slightly higher in energy than I should be. In reviewing the energy holdings, I was surprised that Nextracker Inc was considered as an Energy holding not a Tech.
Although my trading platform says it is a Tech stock, I suppose a case may be made for it being an Energy stock. I was hoping to understand your rational for it.
I have considered PDI as part of my Fixed Income portfolio. Is this wrong?

Q: I have had the stocks above for long enough to watch them go up and then retreat dramatically after their last quarterly reports. Any thoughts on if taking advantage of the dip with these three is a good strategy or just hold what I have currently? All are underweight in my portfolio. Thanks.

Q: Hi 5i Team - In your answer to a previous question you mentioned First Solar and Next Tracker as two of your preferred companies in the solar energy field. Are there any others in Canada or the U.S. including small and mid-caps that you think have potential. They don't have to be profitable at this point but should have decent fundamentals. Thanks.

Q: Hi 5i,
I have a question about currency as it relates to investments made to the TSX or US stock exchanges.
I am embarrassed to ask given this was likely a rookie move; posting publicly in case it helps others.
I have made investments via my TFSA, LIRA, RRSP and self directed investment account in some US equities (above).
What I perceive now to be a "problem" is that all purchases of US stocks (including those with dividends) were made out of my CA account of said RRSP, TFSA, LIRA etc. given I did not hold any USD$ in my investment accounts.
Yesterday there were a few questions around Norbert’s Gambit approach (which I am not familiar with) and I have since realized the error of my ways. Here are my questions - knowing you cannot personalize responses - but if it were YOU :
- 1) As a Canadian, should the purchase of any US equity always be purchased using US funds in said investment account? OR when available - should you purchase on the CA stock exchange?
- 2) What is the best way to transfer CAD from said investment account into the US corresponding account if one wants to be mindful of fees, exchange rates etc. (is that Norbert's approach?)
-3) What would you suggest I do for the US equities I currently own in CA accounts? Is there anything to do?
Please use any credits you see fit.
Thanks a Million.

Q: I'm confused by your earlier response to Maureen's question today on the risk reward for some companies. I expected NXT and CELH to receive high risk rankings but I did not expect them to receive such low grades for reward. In fact t, a couple of questions later you singled these two companies out as top growth candidates in a 3-5 year period. Did I misinterpret your answer?
Appreciate your insight.

Q: Hi 5i Team,
I will be adding to one or more to small existing positions in either VRT, CELH, AMZN, BKNG, and or NXT. Could you please list in order of preference for addition at this time and considering a decent time frame and high risk tolerance. A short comment on the pros and cons of each would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Q: A couple of unrelated laggards...
Is ESTC a show me stock or would you be comfortable with a starter position as of today?
I own NXT but looking to add another position. Do you like SHLS? It is cheap if this solar move has legs. FSLR has moved far and fast. Would you buy into this or pick an alternative at this point?
thx, Mark

Q: Me thinks that spaceship that fearless leader Blaarg is piloting is actually an elaborate can of worms. In 10 years time, according to some environmentalists, we earthlings may be drowning in our own carbon-laced pollution, unless a better solution to or energy needs can be met. As a pessimistic Albertan, I suspect most of us will still be driving evil combustion engines in 2034; however, I am hopeful that there are some game changers in the energy horizon - maybe not Canadian - that may save the planet. Do you have any suggestions we can put on our watchlist? I'm waiting for 5i to beam me up !
