Q: With the latest recession news I am considering some lowball offers for several companies and would appreciate your thoughts on my selections.
MSFT - $228 GOOG - $96 NVDA - $120 MS - $75 PANW $169
Would you change any of these selections or add a couple of others that you
think would be also great lowball possibilies. Ed in Montreal

Q: NVDA has dropped over 25% since 21 July, of which there was a 9.7% drop on 13/09.
MSFT has dropped 13.5% since 8 August, of which there was a 5.5% drop on 13/09.
For one, both or none of these stocks, would you recommend taking a tax loss now with the intent to buy back in a month?

Q: As part of a balanced portfolio, we have the following 3 equities that I would like to add to, for some additional tilt towards growth:
SHOP at 1.6% of portfolio (down 46%),
GOOG-NE @ 2.5% of portfolio (down 12%),
NVDA at 3% of portfolio (up 11%).
What portfolio % would you feel is reasonable for each for a balanced but leaning to growth approach ? Would you purchase all at this time or divide the purchases into 2 or 3 tranches over the next # (?) of months ?

Q: I hold NVDA AMD and MDB in registered accounts and they are now down 47% - 18% - 39% respectively. As there is unfortunately no tax benefit to selling, should I continue to ride them out or bite the bullet and redeploy to recoup some of my losses within a 3 yr time frame. If redeploy is the answer, some suggestions please.

Q: I have recently redeemed some mutual funds that I have held for 20 to 30 years that will produce a significant capital gain for me in 2022. I have several stocks and an ETF that have been purchased in the past few years that are showing losses in the range of $5k to $15k. This includes TOI, U, SOXX, SQ, NVDA, MFI, MSFT, WSP and AMZN. Would you suggest selling these stocks to provide a capital loss that can be applied against my capital gain in 2022? It is my understanding that I will need to wait 30 days to repurchase shares to avoid the denial of the capital loss. If you would suggest selling these stocks and ETF, should I sell now or wait until the end of 2022? And if the stocks and ETF are sold to create a capital loss before the end of 2022, do you see some future in these investments and if so, which stocks would you suggest that I repurchase after 30 days? I own all these 3 and down so much on PINS and U that I was thinking of selling them and adding to my NVDA position. My thinking is that over the next 3 years NVDA has the most upside and is the most solid. Without getting personal would you think this is a smart move?

Q: Some time ago i asked a question regarding the merits of holding a handful of us stocks along with my US etf’s, in order to get a little extra boost. You were ok with the strategy but cautioned against the kind of stocks I held i.e. Google, nvidia, msft, Costco, abbivie. While they were good stocks you said that the problem is that they are well represented in the various etf’s and that if i wanted a “kicker” to provide boost that I should go smaller in size. I wonder if you could provide a handful of stocks that would fit that criterion and would be ones that one would want to own long term. If they were also good candidates for selling options on that would be an added bonus. Thanks for your expertise and advice.
