Q: The 2021 market hasn't been as fun the 2020 market, though I'm optimistic for a much improved remainder of 2021 - like 2020.

All things considered, if you were to pick up five stocks that have sold off (US/CDN) for a 5 year hold, what would they be?

Q: Hi Peter, in the semi space we have AMD, NVDA, QRVO, ON, and MKSI. Knowing that NVDA is your favorite would you exit or trim any of these ? In Tech what do you think happens if/when the big guys AAPL, GOOGL etc and then the smaller guys report more good earnings numbers ? Will this boost them or are we past that for now ? Q: I’m adding to a partially established portfolio (growth-oriented, long-term). I’m interested both in taking advantage of the recent tech downturn (although not too much, as I’m already somewhat tech-heavy) and in further diversifying. Two questions:

1. I own partial positions in the following securities and am looking to add more. Could you rank them in your order of preference for purchasing now? Any you’d avoid buying now?

2. I’m considering buying positions in the following new securities (not easily comparable, I know), with a view to diversity and growth, as well as US exposure. Could you rank them in order of preference for purchasing now? Any you’d avoid buying now?

Q: I wish to de-risk our portfolio. These are some of our holdings with high PEs [although that is not always the most appropriate criteria for risk assessment]. Would appreciate your advice as to top 10
(a) most at risk currently and
(b) great companies, even if currently expensive, that you have most conviction longer term.

Q: I want to add one more stock to my TFSA, I am looking at FB and NVDA - which one would you recommend today and why?

Q: My son hold these tech stocks and really need to start to invest in US tech stocks as all his holdings are in Canada. He would need to sell some of these holdings to get cash so he could convert to US dollars and then buy 2 US stocks. Which stocks would you sell first and can you provide 2 US that are similar to the stocks that he would sell. He has a RRSP account so no capital gains to worry about. He has 20 years before needing to withdraw.

I am planning on making a 2021 rsp contribution and looking for your top 3 US growth picks today. ( I was leaning towards PINS). That being said, do you think now is a good time to do this into the tech weakness? I may contribute in 2 different contributions at different times. Or do you foresee this pullback lasting quite a bit longer yet? I realize timing the market is just a guess, but you did a good job in predicting the low last year when your write up suggested we start buying after the huge virus sell off. Thanks for that!

Q: When do you think we are going to see the market sell off settle down in some of these names? Is this panic selling by retail investors or a more troubling move by smart money out of these names entirely? I'm just finding it hard to imagine that the prospects for these companies changed as dramatically as the share price in recent weeks. Take NVDA for instance. I thought it was everyone's darling a few weeks ago when I bought it over $100 higher. I'm holding but it's hard watching these things fall so dramatically each day without reprieve it seems. My nephew turned 18 last year and has now 11K in his TFSA ready to invest.
What would be your suggestion (s). It can be a mix of CDN and USD stocks/ETFs.
Obviously, it would be several years before needing any of the money so some risk can be taken.
