Q: this is a more technical question but CSU just announced today that some existing shareholders can elect to buy debentures. Can you help us understand what that means and also how will this be offered to us: through our brokers?

Q: I currently hold these 9 stocks with the noted weight in my portfolio: ADBE (4%); AMZBN (3.5%); CRM (2%); CSU (4.5%); CRWD (1.5%); NVDA (1,5%); QCOM (1.5%); SHOP (2.5%); GOOG (4%).
This adds up to about 25%, and to make matters worse, I recently reduced NVDA from 4% for a temporary wait on the sidelines and I intend to restore that in the next while.
So although most are all fairly different, there is too heavy a concentration in tech and reduction is in order. If you were me, which of these holdings would you sell? Trimming across the board is not impossible but as I wish to add some new ideas and already have more stocks than is probably efficient, so selling one (or more) is somewhat more preferred.
FYI, my goals are mostly growth and capital preservation, dividends are less important.
Thanks for your excellent assistance.

Q: At the moment I have 19% of my portfolio in csu debentures
Cost 105, up about 32% from cost
As we see inflation numbers come down I expect the interest rate on the debs to shrink from the present 13%
On par to zero .
If the RATE of inflation change is from Jan 23. 6% to dec. 23 to 3% . The rate of change is 50%.
Thus the formula for next year would be 50-6.5 not to be lower then zero
Thus 0%
Am I correct
Thanks
From csu this year
This new interest rate is equal to the annual average percentage change in the “All-items Consumer Price Index” published by Statistics Canada during the 12 month period ending on December 31, 2022 plus 6.5% and will be reflected in the June 30, 2023 interest payment on the Debentures.

Q: I manage my son's TFSA and have just sold his NVDA shares at a 200% profit. Many thanks for 5i's excellent advice on this purchase! He needs the money next year and I felt - after a good run - it was time to play it safe and cash in. I would now like to reinvest the funds in a less volatile stock - in any sector - that still has reasonable growth prospects over the next year. CSU comes to mind (and I know you're a big fan). MSFT and GOOG already owned. What would be your top three choices for replacing NVDA - Canadian or US? Thank you,

Q: I currently own Brookfield Corp Preferred Share, BN.PF.A.
And I'm wondering whether I should hold on to it. It has a dividend yield of 6.31%, but I'm interested in knowing where you see the share price going. Or perhaps you can recommend something with better prospects at this point in the cycle.
John.

Q: I've been reviewing CSU's shareholder letters and kicking myself that I didn't find such a legendary CEO 15 years ago. The letters make it very clear how much of a unicorn ceo the guy was/is. Which got me thinking, are there any early stage Mark Leonard's out there now that are the kind of ceo's you want to bet on, but younger and their companies are less developed. So my question is, if you had to bet which current CEO's of companies in North America under $10B are likely to be extremely successful based on their business acumen, and shareholder friendliness. Which CEO's would those be (the next Mark Leonard's)? Thx

Q: Hi, Analysts seem to like Constellation's proposed transaction of Blue Knight's Optimal Blue. It was also mentioned by National Bank analyst that the purchase price of USD 700 Million, seems to be rather on the lower side ( as not revised by the seller) and benefits CSU. Also, it looks like Constellation is now getting into bigger deal sizes.
What's your take on this for the company's future growth and on our investment in CSU stock ?
Thanks

Q: Hi, thanks to Peter, I am a long-term holder of CSU. As a result, I now have smaller positions in Lumine and Topicus as well, and while I have added to each of those special dividend holdings, I have three fairly similar holdings. I'm looking to pare down my holdings and wondering if you can divine which of the two spin-offs I should keep and add to with the sale of the other? I was leaning to dump TOI because of it's European exposure and it bears similarities to being a younger Constellation while Lumine may be more innovative and unique.

Q: Dear 5i,
Using a Canadian broker.
Is there a way where one can slowly build a small position in CSU at a fraction of it's normal stock price of approx. $2,650? For example, is there a way where I can buy 1/10 share at approx. 1/10 the price? I find this is an issue for stock prices that are very high. Does CSU have a history of doing stock splits?
