Q: Hello 5i:
I want to add to my AI exposure with a 3 – 5 year horizon.
I already have sufficient TSLA and AAPL, and moderate positions in NVDA and MSFT, and a starting position in PLTR.
What would be your choice(s) for adding to any of these, and/or starting new positions such as AVGO, DELL , TSM, or others? I have avoided GOOG due to possible breakup legislation.
Many thanks for your ongoing great service.

Q: I hold NVDA (7.5%), VRT (7%), MSFT (5.5%), AMZN (7%), and GOOG (5%)- all up significantly in registered accounts. Question #1: what is the maximum weight you would be comfortable holding of each of these five stocks? Question #2: I also hold LMN (2.5%), which is barely above water. Deeply disappointed in its recent performance and considering replacing it with either ISRG or AVGO. That said, I'm concerned that adding AVGO puts too many eggs in the AI basket, given my other holdings. If this were your portfolio, would you opt to replace LMN with either ISRG or AVGO? Please explain why.

Q: Regardless of sector, please suggest 5 or so each Cdn and US holdings that would expect to average an 8%+ return per year including dividend and capital appreciation (can be company or ETF, but for ETF should consider fee) for 10 year hold. Thank-you!

Q: We are planning to set up a separate investment account for our grandkids. Assume a 10 year hold. There are a few sectors we would want to overweight - 3 stocks, CAD or US, in Financials, Industrials, Technology and 1-2 stocks in the others. What would you look for and how would that translate into individual stock selections.

Q: Earlier this week a US judge ruled that Google has an illegal monopoly with its Android App Store, and the judge set out a bunch of rules that Google must follow for the next three years so as to allow for more competition. This ruling came out of the Epic Games lawsuit. Google plans to appeal and seek to pause the order. But I am confused. At the end of 2023, Google agreed to a $700 million settlement to resolve similar state and consumer concerns with its App Store. And as part of that settlement, I thought they agreed to similar changes to their App Store to what was just laid out this week. So, why are they fighting the most recent ruling? Thanks.

Q: Hi,

May I request your expertise in assessing the Risk VS Reward IF I were to buy one of the following stocks, (plan to buy and write covered calls on) :
NVDA/GOOG/AMZN/MSFT/VRT/CRWD/INTC

If this strategy is profitable, I plan to hold this stock for a long time provided it doesn't get called away!

Low Risk/Low Reward =1.
High Risk/High Reward=10

Thanks in advance.

Q: Same question with some US names:
If YOU were a growth-focused investor building your portfolio, what would be the MAX weight (%) YOU would give to the following US names without losing sleep at night? As always, the portfolio is for long term buy and hold with a 5-10 year time frame.
MA
NVDA
GOOGLE
Microsoft
Mercardolibre
BRK.B
Thank you very much for your service. I have done well using your advice.

Q: Greetings. Seeking a TSX traded in Cdn dollars ETF non-hedged that holds as a majority of its portfolio US equities the likes of AMZN AVGO MSFT PALO ALTO NETFLIX GOOG META NVDA or most of them and similars since wishing to sell a variety of these types of equities currently held as hedged CDRs in a registered account. Methinks the CDN dollar is destined for a fall at some point so wishing to remove CDR hedging. Please comment if this doesn't agree with your view aside from the difficulty in predicting currency moves. Thank you for any suggestions.

Q: With the downgrade Microsoft has been dropping these last few days. Is this worrisome, should I take my profit and run or will this calm down and Microsoft will resume gaining? I take it there is nothing wrong with the company, just market sentiment which will change with a little time.

Q: I am rewording a question I recently submitted in the hopes of satisfying 5i's evident concerns with regard to liability.

Theoretically speaking, if YOUR tech holdings were about 19% and included LMN, MSFT, NVDA and UBER...and if YOU held an additional 18% in 'tech like' stocks such as GOOG, AMZN, and VRT....would you personally consider yourself to be overweight, underweight or nicely balanced in terms of your personal tech holdings? Thank you.

Q: In response to a recent question, you had suggested an appropriate portfolio weighting for the tech sector would be 20-30%. Strictly speaking, I hold about 19% tech ( LMN 4.5%, MSFT 5.55%, NVDA 6.5% and UBER 2%). That said, I also hold an additional 17.6% of what I would consider 'tech-like' stocks: GOOG 5%, AMZN 6.75%, and VRT 5.85%. Would you suggest I am overweight, underweight or nicely balanced in terms of my tech holdings? By way of context, I would describe my investment style as risk-managed growth. Thank you.
