Which Canadian and U.S. stocks do you see as presently having positive momentum leading to strong growth in a near future ?

I would appreciate your assessment of MNDY and the sub-sector it is in. As a growth stock, wha is the potential total addressable market for its services, what percentage is it targeting, how is it positioned for growth vis-a-vis its competitors. In a nutshell, if you wanted to have a position in this area, would you buy and at what entry price. Or, do you prefer another and if so, why.

Q: If you could buy only 5 stocks in Canada and 5 stocks in the US could I please have your ideas? No regard to sector diversification etc. simply looking for 5 best ideas in each country

I own these 5 equities in my USD account, plus a reasonable amount of cash that could be deployed. im fairly comfortable with all of them, are you? if I was to shift to an all growth strategy within this account, what would you suggest selling ( if any ), and what would you suggest buying, either new names or current holdings ( with a reasonable target purchase price, if able )? I would be looking for growth companies with positive earnings/earnings growth ( ie nothing highly speculative right now ). cheers and enjoy the long weekend. chris

I don’t see any questions for your thoughts on todays earnings for Crwd, Veev, CRM so I will ask for your brief take on earnings and outlook for all 3. The market has liked the results on all 3 today which was a nice surprise. Do you still view these 3 stocks positively and advise holding for the long term growth stories? Q: The media occasionally references buying "Dogs of the Dow". Do you know if any comparative analysis has been done of the better Dow stocks which may be termed "Stars of the Dow"? If so, is there any guidance to be suggested? I think 5i favours buying "winners" rather than "losers". Thank you for your always well-reasoned comments.

Q: CRM's share price has tumbled a bit in the last few days...any news or explanation for what is going on?

Shop is falling again today despite earnings beats and price target increases across the board. Is it a good time to buy the shares from todays profit takers? Also in general do you see this market sell off sparked by the fitch downgrade of the US credit rating a buying opp? There has been some brutal sell offs over the last 2 days. Which names would you be looking to buy in this weakness? Thanks

I have hit the breakeven point with ICE and am thinking of selling it and buying another more growthy US holding. This is in my TFSA. I was thinking of adding it to my Microsoft. shares. I have Nvida already. Could you suggest any other US stocks? Would you consider keeping ICE??

Q: I currently hold these 9 stocks with the noted weight in my portfolio: ADBE (4%); AMZBN (3.5%); CRM (2%); CSU (4.5%); CRWD (1.5%); NVDA (1,5%); QCOM (1.5%); SHOP (2.5%); GOOG (4%).

This adds up to about 25%, and to make matters worse, I recently reduced NVDA from 4% for a temporary wait on the sidelines and I intend to restore that in the next while.

So although most are all fairly different, there is too heavy a concentration in tech and reduction is in order. If you were me, which of these holdings would you sell? Trimming across the board is not impossible but as I wish to add some new ideas and already have more stocks than is probably efficient, so selling one (or more) is somewhat more preferred.

FYI, my goals are mostly growth and capital preservation, dividends are less important.

Q: Further to my earlier question regarding covered calls, can you please suggest some higher volatility US names that would be suitable. Your 2015 CMS article advises the use of companies with no debt and excess cash that are more volatile than the market. I would imagine this points mostly to mega cap tech names, but some diversity in the list would be appreciated. Thank-you.
