Q: Hi team, I would like to generate some income in US dollars.

Could you please recommend 2 or 3 dividend paying US stocks, together with a brief explanation as to why you like those companies. I would also be OK with an ETF if you think that is a better way to go.

Q: Hello 5i,

Could you please expand on an answer to V on the 20 stocks to purchase today if you were to start over? We are assuming that stocks/ETF’s are equal weight and the recommendation is considered a growth portfolio. If not, please elaborate. We were also surprised to see Prudential on the list.

If you were 70+ would you alter the list slightly?

If you were in your mid 30’s and 40’s now and have limited funds (30k-70k) would you recommend purchasing all the stocks/ETF’s equally and expand over time or are there specific stocks/ETF’s that would be considered a “starter pack”?

Q: I bought Hershey in my RRSP in mid-2024. While mostly known for chocolate, the company has been diversifying into non-chocolatey snacks. However, the stock price remains down due to high cocoa prices. Would you be content to hold Hershey and collect the dividend until cocoa prices drop? Would you have some other suggestions? I tend to go for boring US dividend payers that also have some growth potential in my RRSP. My top holdings right now are MSFT, COST, MA, BIP.UN, ENB, and O. I also hold VOO as an underlying holding. Thank you.

Q: So much news these days about the ramp up to electric vehicles and the eventual elimination of internal combustion engines.

Governments have committed to installing charging stations to accommodate future demand.

What is the current status of power generating facilities. How easily can they ramp up supply to satisfy the future demand or is there already enough capacity.

What are your favourite Canadian and US power generators to satisfy this demand. Thank you

Q: Just wondering about these pipeline companies and longevity. Are these companies to own and forget or they tied to oil and gas as a commodity so hence has a limited run? What is your outlook on them? I have done very well with WMB over 4 years, and wondering if I should leave it be say for another year or two, add, or sell. Bought ENB. this year for the Div and wondering how you see this stock as well. Thank you.

Q: Hi Peter,
Is US dividend stocks suitable for RRIF with no withholding tax? My thinking is that US dividend does not receive any tax benefits in non registered account and is taxed like interest income. With on-shoring and tariffs, US inflation will not eased too much, and may go up again in the next few years. Hence, interest rate will not be much lower and consumers spending will be weaker for longer. Giving this scenario, and for my RRIF account, what will be your top picks for US dividend paying stocks with solid balance sheets, that will able to maintain their share price and dividend payments through a mild recession? Q: Hello 5i,
I am considering purchasing BEP:US to meet my P.A. targets for both Sector (Utilities) and Geography (U.S. & International).
In researching BEP, all I could find was one pie chart that indicated its geographical footprint as being 50% U.S., 35% Canada, and 15% Brazil.
While this will work for me, my question is "how accurate is that as a geographical breakdown?" It seems to be all I could find.
Can you offer any other suggestions for Utilities with a greater U.S./International bent? U.S.-denominated is preferred - as is a comparable dividend...

Q: Good morning 5i team. I am interested in your opinion of KRP being held in a US rrsp. In reading your last response the withholding tax seemed to override your recommendation. Second question is under the present market conditions with 1 year to a lif conversion I have been bolstering interest yielding investment with a potential for capital gain. Could you recommend 3 Cdn and 3 US stocks or etf's with high dividends that have good earnings outlooks, valuation and perhaps some growth.
