Q: My question is regarding Shopify being down today almost 5% with 6 days to earnings call. The following stocks are in my TFSA, and wondering if you’d consider trimming parts of this portfolio to add to SHOP in a potential great buying opportunity if it keeps dropping post earnings call?

Would you add to another “power house” like NVDA instead ?

Thanks for your insight!

Nick

Q: I am considering either ENB or TRP as an income investment. Could you provide the dividend payout for each, and the percentage of gas vs oil in their pipelines. There is a lot of news about the potential closing of Enbridge line 5 in Michigan, and the affect on Canadians. But, what is the affect on the company? What percentage of their business depends on line 5 , and what are their alternatives if it is closed? Is TRP facing any similar challenges (aside from Keystone XL)? Which company do you prefer looking strictly at dividend sustainability and potential dividend growth?
Thank-you

Q: Following up on my question from this morning, you suggested as "high dividend payers" a few companies that have comparatively low dividends to LIF or FSZ. They aere T (4.83%), AQN, (3.9%), NPIU (2.75%). I don't think these qualify as "high dividend payers". I acknowledge they may be better choices from a growth perspective, but I am looking specifically for companies with a high dividend (over 6% for sure), if any other than FSZ (on my radar!) and LIF (I own this) can be suggested. Growth is not important to me for this aspect of my portfolio. I am looking for companies you might suggest that have a dividend that you think is reasonably safe.
Thanks! Paul

Q: There are a lot of prices outside of Tech, that are higher today than 2 - 5 Yrs ago. The ratings on a lot of these individual stocks, can also vary from "strong buy" to "overvalued". Given what we are going through with Covid, this has me concerned.
I really just want the dividend's and the original investment back, in say 15 Years. How ill advised would I be, to drop down to the above and maybe a few more like them. I will not out live hydrocarbons.
Thanks

Q: Could you please provide your recommendation from a utility/energy investment standpoint. I have mentioned 3 possibilities here. Trying to gain insight around management effectiveness, leverage etc. For instance, FTS seems to have superior mgmt effectiveness from an ROE, and leverage standpoint, so is that considered superior or depends on investment objective as one is growth vs income oriented. In the end, looking for alternatives as I already own these, and Brookfield has performed very well so now over weighted. Thanks

Q: If you had to buy and hold either TRP or ENB for the next five years, taking into account safety of capital and potential growth, which would you choose? Or, would it be a better strategy to buy and hold both?

Q: I need to raise only a small amount of money to allow a RRIF payment. I have listed a few stocks from which to pick and am seeking guidance on what you might think is the best at this particular time. This is without consideration to sector or balance and only about how to avoid selling one that's prospects are good and hanging on to those which are not quite as good.

Q: I am growing concerned about Line 5 as the Michigan governor is trying to close it down. I realize there are several strategies in play to keep it open, but given how big line 5 is to enbridge, to michigan, to ontario and quebec, I can't help but wonder what will happen to the stock and future growth if it is closed down Your opinion please?

Q: Hi 5i team
I would like to thank you for all your sound advice since inception. I would need to trim up to 5 stocks from this portfolio. If you were in that position, which ones would you cut starting with first to cut up to fifth. These stocks are in a rrsp with equal percentages. Thanks. Gilles

Q: Hi 5i team,

My question is on the future of natural gas as a heating source in Ontario, for example. I will not try to make this overly political and just provide facts based on carbon tax rates from Enbridge's site: https://www.enbridgegas.com/Natural-Gas-and-the-Environment/Enbridge-A-Green-Future/Federal-Carbon-Pricing-Program

As of April 1st Ontarians will pay 7.83 cents / cubic metre in Carbon ta . With current Gas Supply Charge (GSC) at 10.356 / cubic metre this works out to a ct of 75.6% before hst. I a short 9 years this will increase to roughly 320% ((170 ÷ 40 * 7.83) ÷ 10.356) of the GSC.

So my question is: If people move off natural gas to heat their homes, what impact will this have on the pipelines. Do you see any other investment themes to replace natural gas? Basically get off the grid solutions, although they are really expensive today,

Thx

Q: Good morning team!
I compared a managed portfolio by pro advisor from a large institution versus one that I managed myself with 5i team Q/A plus few smaller newsletters & Bloomberg daily news thru my Fibe TV package with Bell (I hold BCE in my portfolio)
Kudo to your team: triple the return. Thank you!
My two questions today:
Investment group: Limited partnership Versus Incorporated (we are small not yet having 5+1 employees to be active CCPC) pro and con
I hold a bit of ENB at low cost (double down each time it dropping, trim a bit when it pops) & IPL at very low cost 12 ish. Your thought on selling IPL and buying PPL. This will the pipelines combo that we hold ENB & PPL.

Thank you!
