Q: It is hard to imagine that this pandemic will one day be a distant memory but eventually life will return to a pre pandemic normal. Can you name 4 or 5 Canadian traded stocks that suffered during the pandemic that you believe will have growth potential in this future?

Q: Hey Team 5i,
I was thinking of asking the same question every quarter: "Taking into account the current investing horizon for the next quarter (Q4 2020), what sectors do you think will thrive and can you give two top Canadian companies that may have the most return potential being ok with small to mid cap companies with good fundamentals.

Q: If you could see into the future and knew COVID, people's fear of COVID, the economic effects of COVID were all gone ( basically a complete return to normal scenario was 100% for sure in 2021/2022) what basket of Canadian stocks would you purchase now for longer term hold (5-8 years).

Q: Good Morning Peter & team,

so... As per your comments couple of days ago referring to a positive outlook for ATZ being dependent on the Oct 14 earnings call, I am assuming??? the very positive move today (up over 8%) is a result of a good report yesterday?

If you could please provide your opinion of the recent ATZ Earnings Call and any forward looking opinions you may have.

Also, in consideration for the very negative a brick & mortar report (malls primarily) which I saw yesterday along with the very positive on-line shopping results reported, are there any other companies which are related to on-line shopping you think we should consider moving forward in 2021come as we/if we come out the other end of Covid? Also, please confirm ATZ & LSPD are considered Industrials.

ps... presently my portfolio has a 5% position ATZ & 4.8% LSPD

Thanks for all you do

Q: Over the last 10-20 years, I have found that I have done the best buying and holding several smallish, but established companies that seem to have good long term growth prospects. Have made very large gains by holding stocks like CSU, BYD, PBH, WSP and GSY for 5, 10 or more years. I am trying to identify which smallish but established companies might be the best candidates to produce some very significant gains over the next 10+ years. Would you please rank the following in order according to which you think are the most likely to generate some very significant gains over that time frame. I hold the majority of these, but not in large positions, and there are a few I do not currently hold. Also, if you have another 2 or 3 companies that you think would fit this strategy, could you indicate which ones and where they would rank in the list. I'm not worried about sector, as my portfolio is well diversified, and I am tolerant of risk. Take how ever many credits you feel this question is worth. Thank you.
ABT, DOO, ECN, ENGH, GDI, GOOS, LSPD, PEO, REAL, SIS, TCS

Q: Hi 5i team,
I haven’t asked a question in a while. The reason being is that the Q&A is so comprehensive it practically covers all of my holdings, which is great. While the bulk of my funds are in the U.S. for growth, I keep a smaller chunk in Canada, so I am not fully exposed to the U.S. dollar. I recently added some beaten up stocks, such as GIL, GOOS and MX, which are quietly moving higher almost every day. A couple could be considered value. Is this a rotational trade or are some institutional investors finally coming back to Canada?
Thanks again for the insight.

Q: I am underweight consumer discretionary stocks (also underweight US stocks). I only own AMZN and REAL in this space. Considering ATZ or GRMN. Are there any others I should consider. What would be your suggestion to add? My portfolio has a mix of about 25 US and Canadian stocks based on reading your question section daily. Thanks for all you do for the independent investor!

Q: I'm looking for a few suggestions of economy re-opening stocks, US and CAD that you would consider 'investable' with a recovery taking place over the next year or so.

Q: Curious to get your take on what other companies (can and us listed) may benefit from people embracing the winter and outdoors this year. LL Bean just announced a spike in purchases of sleds, snow shoes etc in advance of the winter. Assume DOO will benefit, what about GOOS or maybe COLM. Any others I should look at?

Q: Thx as always for your amazing service.
You mentioned 4 of the above names in a vaccine / recovery scenario. I already own DOO and GC, and I am looking to add two. Can you please rank them 1) in terms of risk 2) recovery potential from current levels

Thx Brian

Q: These seem to be some of your favorite Canadian growth names - very different in terms of sectors, vol and size, however can you please rank them in terms of growth outlook for next 3-4 years to add some torque to a portfolio.
Thank you

Q: Can you give me a couple cyclical names in both US and Canada that you think look interesting here? Thanks

Q: Greetings 5i team,
I have some cash in two of my accounts and am looking to add to two or more of these companies. In what order would you suggest I might add to these companies? Are there any that you would not add to at this time? For example, CAE and GC have been badly mauled, have not yet recovered, but perhaps I should treat them as a hold?
I realize that these companies vary according to sector, size growth, income and recovery potential making this a challenging question.
Thank you for your work.

Q: Do you believe the cyclic trade is back for real and if so, can you recommend 3 stocks Each in the US and Canada? Thanks!

Q: Granted that these companies differ in dividend (only with AD), size (DOO largest, AD smallest) and type of business (sports equipment, fashion products, and equity financing to private companies), how would you rank these four stocks for future growth runway today (highest to lowest) if sector was not a consideration? Thanks for your valued input!

Q: Hello,

My partner and I heard about 5i from a friend whose been using you for many years. You came with the highest recommendation.

I feel like I should be copying one of your portfolios, especially due to my lack of knowledge, but it is very important for me that my investments to follow my ethics.

I would like to know which companies on your balanced and growth portfolios would be highest on positive environmental, social and corporate governance, which are low and should be switched and for which companies. I'm happy to do research, but I'm struggling to navigate the important statistics and feeling incompetent in finding good resources. I have seen your ESG scores (https://www.5iresearch.ca/blog/ESG-tsx-companies) and would be keen to know where to find information on how they are created. I would also appreciate other resources that you think would assist in building a portfolio, or simply which companies you would put on it.

Thank-you,
