Q: What are 5-6 stocks 5i would pick that are Canadian, profitable, and less than $1 billion market cap for the higher risk/growth part of a portfolio, to hold for the long term?

Q: Can you comment on what may explain the jerkiness of this stock? It goes up and down in dramatic moves. Any idea as to what may explain the high volatility? Thank you.

Q: Both BCE and Telus are down significantly today on high volume and both have broken support levels. Is there any recent news to explain today's drops. Are their dividends safe

Q: BAM is currently overvalued per Morningstar (price of $51 vs fair value of 44 ish).
BN is currently undervalued per Morningstar (price of $56 vs fair value of 60+ if I remember correctly)
Would you agree with this valuation?
I am currently owning both BN and BAM. The BAM holding was spun off from the BN holding. I just want to simplify into 1 holding. Would it make sense to sell BAM and add to BN here? My priority is growth as the horizon is 10 + years. Thank you very much.

Q: Morning 5i Team,

I have s simple question regrading tax treatment of interest expenses.

Let's say I borrow money to purchase dividend paying stocks. How should I handle the interest so paid on such a loan? Do I simply write it off in the year the expenses are incurred or do I add the cumulated interest charges to the adjusted cost base of the stock when I sell.

Your help is much appreciated.

Q: TMX share price has had a bit of a run up lately, and I think from a review of past answers must now be pretty close to the high end of its historical valuation range? Do you have any concerns about it getting ahead of itself at this point or do you think the fundamentals are supporting this upward momentum? Appreciate your insight as always.

Q: Do you think now is a good time to buy Visa? Or do you think there is more downside given the recent Supreme Court ruling on the antitrust litigation?

Q: I've made the mistake in the past of selling a full position too early or holding too long. Now I'm trimming positions / rebalancing when appropriate. With some gains I want to make sure I'm diversified, is it a bad idea to throw gains into an S&P500 index or something to ensure gains over the long term. I'm 32 so many more years in the market.

Q: Would you sell Brookfield Infrastructure? If yes, is there a name you would replace it with?

Q: a number of questions related to the Slate family of companies.
1) What is the relationship to each other, and the purpose of the different Slate ticker symbols?
2) For SGR.un, are they impacted or could problems at SOT.un spill over to them?
3) For SGR.un their payout ratio is very high. i) have they shown forward finacials that imply this will come down? ii) if not do you have any data which suggests the dividend could be at risk? Q: What, if any, are the tax and dividend implications of having CDRs in a registered and a non- registered account?

Q: I'm certain that our family's cellphone experiences are not unique. Even though we own BCE in our combined portfolios, and our rationale for continuing to hold it was that the dividends would pay for the monthly bill, but enough is enough! Without warning, Bell Mobility increased the monthly fee by $4.00 for a very basic plan. (We are seniors who rarely need data since we rely on WiFi.) Our other cellphone had been on Virgin (owned by Bell) who did the same thing, although they did 'warn' us about the impending $4.00 per month increase. After researching options, we opted to switch to Freedom Mobile, since the price was a lot less, and the basic plans were much better than we had with Bell Mobility and Virgin. My point is this: BCE will, in my opinion, continue to languish due to their predatory price gouging. Yes, it's an oligopoly, but Freedom is rapidly increasing their customer base, while I suspect that Bell/Virgin will continue to lose customers.
