Q: With the CAD losing ground to the USD, is it still worth converting Canadian dollars to buy US stocks? If yes, what would be your 5 top growth stocks for 2025?

Just reviewing your balance portfolio and I noticed that your highest conviction stocks are csu, dsg, shop and wsp, all around 6%. Can I assume that you would recommend these stocks for 2025 at this percentage of a balance portfolio?

Q: I've done quite well with SHOP, having bought this in mid 2022 in the high $30's. It has grown to over 7% of my account.

1) Do you think it can still reach/exceed its old highs from 2021? Wouldn't that make it one of the largest companies (by market cap) on the TSX?
2) What the maximum weighting you would hold in SHOP?

Q: Hi There, I am trying to stear my portfolio decisions going into 2025, and looking for some of your feedback. I am 28 with 55k in myTFSA ( all after home purchase, so longer time horizon), I have about 5K of the 55K to invest, and the other 50K in the stocks below with their respective weightings of the 55K. I am trying to decide if I should add any other specific stocks or top up weightings to 2% on BSX / BKNG / ISRG / TSM / CELH / SMCI and add to CRWD, DIS, GOOGl, another 1.0%.

Are there any other stocks you would recommend to diversify this portfolio some more. Do you have any concerns with any holdings or their weightings?

Please deduct however many questions you feel necessary, I don't often ask Q's.

Q: Hello 5i staff
I have a portfolio consisting in a few etf’s and a few stocks for the American side. One of these is a small cap etf. On the Canadian side it have mostly large blue chip stocks. CSU, BNT, etc. These are mostly at the full 5% quota. I keep some of these smaller stocks, I suppose because I enjoy winning. The problem, though, is that I hate losing. I keep the amount of these smaller stocks small because of that fear of losing, I suppose. They are often between one and two per cent of a fairly large portfolio, which is low percentage wise, but still quite high dollar wise. I am an advancing senior with moderate risk profile. Have a modest pension, which allows us mostly to live without touching investments. I have been wondering lately whether I should just bite the bullet, take the risk and add more to these fast growers ( and from time to time, fast losers) or whether I should just sell them all and consolidate in the larger stocks and etf’s. especially since I can say that I have won the game? Perhaps I could keep a few for fun. But, I guess that is what I am doing now. I know that you cannot give personal advice. But, I find that you usually have interesting things to say about these kinds of situations. As well, it has been cathartic and possibly helpful for me just to frame the question.

Q: Regarding potential Trump tarrifs, do they apply to services also or only goods?

Do you see any of the companies (DRX, CLS, BN, PRL, Hps.a, ENB, Shop,.... ) affected by this?

I have gains on most of them. Would you sell right away and buy later,.depending on market outcomes?

Would you have a different strategy for stocks that I plan to sell in 1 year vs 5+ years?

Q: How useful is forward P/E as a basis for deciding when to cut back a high flyer. What is it for SHOP compared to AMZN? Can you suggest one or more other (maybe better) metrics? Right now, would you cut back SHOP if it was 10% of a TFSA?

Q: Trying to understand analyst changes on SHOP. TD lists analyst 3 changes this week. One sell and 2 holds. On the surface, this could be interpreted as almost 3 sells. What indicators or factors might drive some analysts to come to this conclusion when others, including 5i, are much more upbeat, even bullish.

Q: With the NUVEI deal going through I have cash sitting in my TFSA. Could you recommend three stocks that you would recommend right now.

Q: Now that the dust settled after Q results and SHOP drifted a bit lower would you view it as a good entry point? Would you expect it to grow faster then the Amazon stock?
There was very positive Barron’s article on Nov 12th.

Q: Hi, With the stock's magnificent rally of 25%, Today, after the blow out results, would you consider trimming and rebalancing the SHOP weight in the Balanced Portfolio ( Should be 8.5%, I believe, now from 5.96%, Oct end ) ? Or, you would be comfortable with it and let it run ?
