I would like to purchase US dividend paying equities (for geographic exposure) but am concerned about the withholding tax.

Is there any vehicle available to avoid or lessen the tax? I have no room in my registered account.

What are you highest conviction US stocks with plus 4% yield and some growth potential.?

I'm currently overweight Suncor, have a full position in Whitecap and less roughly 2/3 position in Freehold Royalties. I'm thinking of lightening up on Suncor and putting the dollars into a USA producers. Would you please list your top three USA domiciled oil and/or gas producers, why you prefer them, whether you would trade Suncor for any of them?

I have owned Total for several years and it hasn't done much. It is involved in a lot of green initiatives, and more recently has been mentioned in the Adani scandal. Please offer all you can about Total.
I am thinking of selling Total and buying Chord Energy. Please provide as much information as you can about Chord. Holds mostly Enerplus Bakken assets-- Good dividend and maybe a takeover candidate. Would you recommend such a switch? Any other or better USA oil companies you would suggest?

Q: I have several 'Growth' companies which have grown quite large in both Cdn and US markets (Thanks). While I plan to let winners run, I am looking to take some capital out of those, and shift to areas of the market which are trading below their historical averages. Could you suggest some areas of both US and Canada to look for those areas? (Specific companies or ETFs which would target this both welcome)

Q: Stop me if you've heard this story this year: I am having a once in a generation year with my portfolio up 50%, a chunk of that driven by Nvidia and its explosive growth. NVDA is now 40% of my portfolio which I acknowledge is insane. But having owned it since 2016 and benefitted massively, I have no intention of selling it, at least not yet. The rest of my portfolio is made up of successful U.S. and Canadian tech, and, on the other end of the scale, conservative, low beta, mostly Canadian dividend payers. They provide ballast to my tech/NVDA risk. Getting to the point: I have $35K to invest and it should be directed to the conservative part of my portfolio. What names would you suggest that tick the following boxes: +4 % well-covered yield, slow but steady share price growth, solid fundamentals, probably Canadian though open to U.S. stocks, irrespective of sector. In the conservative part of my portfolio I already own: all 6 big banks, FTS, ENB, GRT.UN, BAM, BRE, EIF, FC, FFH, PPL, SLF, TFII, TRI.

Q: As we close in on the US election what would be your short term (up to 1 year) picks be in the US market? For a republican victory energy sector might be interesting or possibly crypto. If crypto how would you play it?
On the other hand if Democrats win what would you choose?
