Q: What impact do you think there will be to Canadian oil companies when the US starts to control Venezuelan oil and what timeline. What companies would benefit?

There could be a (negative) shift in sentiment towards the Canadian sector, if investors buy into the possibility that Venezuela will replace some Canadian crude. This is more likely to impact heavy oil producers in Canada, such as CVE, ATH and SU/CNQ somewhat. US companies such as CVX and XOM will likely benefit. The initial reaction could be harsh, but it will take a long time for Venezuela oil to really make an impact, as the country has been lax on maintenance and development of its fields (due to lack of capital investment).
