Q: Hello
I have owned CNQ for awhile
it is volatile and not going anywhere as compared to SU

is it worth while to switch to IMO.to and CVX (US); for abit of dividend and capital growth, very disappointed by CNQ's performance
the pipeline, if being built, shovels will not be in the ground until 2029
thanks
Michael

We might take a wider view here. CNQ is up 167% in the past five years. The TSX Energy index in the same time is up 105%. SU is ahead, but not by much (175%). The CNQ dividend is nice, and secure. We would not view it as a sell, but the sector is of course cyclical. We like the stock. That being said, considering recent events, adding a stock like CVX to the sector allocation can make sense and will improve overall diversification.
