Q: I am thinking of selling off my profit in those companies. What do you suggest that are safer for the next year.

Q: Good day! I have all of my stocks in Canadian dollars, except one position in US dollars, Blackberry. Looking at the recent drop in Facebook, I am wondering if a switch to FB might provide more short-term (1-2 years) growth for this one position. Your thoughts?

Q: While FB was plummeting I sold my shares and locked in some gains. I used the money to buy shares in Constellation Software. I believe CSU will recover faster and keep growing. I feel that with the news of a slower growing user base and users being on FB for less time, it will take the market a long time to regain it's confidence in the company. Do you agree. Or should I just get back in at this lower price?

Q: How much influence do the various market players have in manipulating a stock price? I see Facebook is down 20% pre-market but I question to what degree if any is this manipulated or is it a true reflection of the number of buyers and sellers? I've been burned once or twice selling on a drop only to see it rebound hard. After years of investing I'm more at peace with holding for the long term as for myself it's been a losing game in the short term trying to out game short term reactions.

Q: Hi 5i, thank you for your service , the Q&A alone is worth every dollar.

I have big gains in (NFLX – 8%, NVDA – 8%, FB – 8%, GOOGL – 8%, AMZN – 7%) and I have already sold some of these companies previously but they keep rising! Some may say I have let these ride for too long already BUT… based on the Q&A I get a sense you think all of these “tech” stocks are market leaders and have lots of room for earnings growth, so part of me wants to keep them going as I can see them continuing to rise and rise until of course there is eventually a recession or market crash, but again I think a few years after that event they will still be dominant companies, but please give me a good reason to sell these stocks, because I am struggling to justify selling some of them again. I do not need this money for a min 20 years and do not shy from risk.

Also, I have cash available even if I don't sell anything, any recommendations for 2-3 stocks to finish the portfolio ? TD or BNS or both would be adequate? I don’t have an appetite for an energy/oil company, or mining at this time..
Here are the rest of my stocks (SHOP – 5%, BRK – 5%, XYL – 5%, GSY – 5%,TOY – 5%, SIS – 5%, PBH – 5%, PHO – 4%, KXS – 3%, TSGI – 2.5%, GC – 2.5%, SPOT – 2.5%, RHT – 3%, COV – 3%).

Q: I am currently overweight in tech (now pushing 23%). I have just retired (with a generous defined benefit pension) and am trying to adopt a more conservative approach to investing. Given this new focus:
a) What would you suggest would be an appropriate weighting for tech?
b) Could you list the above-noted holdings in order of least to most risk?
c) Could you offer your thoughts with respect to which stock - or stocks - on this list represents the best balance of value and growth?

Q: Hi !

I invest mostly in growth stocks but with 28% of my portfolio in tech, I may be overloaded in this sector. My present holdings are: CSU (2.7%) PHO (2.5%) KXS (3.2%) SHOP (3.5%) ADBE (3.1%) FB (2.7%) GOOG (2.6%) MU (1.8%) NVDA (2.2%) SQ (3.%). If I were to reduce the number of holdings as well as my tech %, on which stocks would you suggest to concentrate, identifying those with most growth potential and those more risky ? Are there any other stocks better suited to my goal ? Or should I stay the course here ?

Q: Good Morning, my question is regarding the reclassification of the telecommunication sector and technology sector. What is your opinion on how reclassification will effect the stocks mentioned above. I have read that these stocks will be negatively effected due to repositioning of holdings within funds. Q: Hi,
Could you get your crystal ball out to help with this decision. I bought facebook on the dip at $159. Now its bouncing around $190. For a two month return thats pretty great. Do you think its a good value "forever" type stock because of their user numbers? Or do you think its looking like a good time to move that money into something else offering greater upside? Im not into chasing gains and moving money around alot, I prefer value investing. However, since its hovering around its highest high is it likely to slow down to maybe just a few percent growth per year? Its growth has been very consistent since the end of 2012, but if that was to slow down and not offer a dividend it would lose some attractiveness for sure. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.
