Q: I'm thinking of selling my ALA for a tax loss and moving on + set aside some cash, but I'm trying to determine the right opportunity (it was ex-dividend today, so that's one thing!).

What sort of potential impact with the pandemic have on ALA that could make waiting dangerous? They, of course, report on April 30.

Thanks.

Q: I have held these for income and am down substantially. . All are in registered accounts. Are any of them in danger of bankruptcy? Are any worth holding and/or adding to at this time?
Thanks

Q: I wish to buy a defensive utility in a non-reg acct that will qualify for DTC (not sure if ETFs above qualify for DTC). I am aware of different div yields. Is there any significant difference in risks that stand out to you? Plse rank in your order of pref for purchase (already own EMA but would purchase more).

Q: These companies represent 17% of my portfolio, with ENB and NPI positions being 3.5% each and the remaining approx 2 % each. Recently stock prices of several of these have increased 10 % or so.

Should I adjust any of these positions?

Without really knowing the remainder of my account, what percent in utilties would be suitable for a ten year horizon?

Q: Hi 5i Team:

Good day!

I am owning the above 4 stocks with a total less than 4.5%. The largest one is ENB. Instead of putting my cash (more than 10% of my portfolio) I wonder if I should buy more of some of these 4 stocks to earn dividend. I realize the stock may go up/down. My current holdings are well diversified, and having a good gain. I don't want to add more, or until I sell any of the current ones.

Your opinions and recommendations please.

There are more than one stock in my question, please take as many points as you need to.

Thank you.
Louisa

Q: Hi 5i Team:

Happy New Year!

I am thinking to put my hi interest saving money to either ENB and or ALA. I know the principal may go up/down, but if it goes down at least I can use my cap loss to offset gains. Which of these two you would recommend for a long term hold just to earn the dividend? I already own these two stocks and my holdings are well diversify. Or, what would you recommend besides ENB and ALA.

Thank you.

Q: I have a balanced and diversified portfolio.
In reviewing my holdings, these two stocks are at the low end of my portfolio %. I have money to invest, so my options could include rolling one into the other to increase my holding %. , or adding $ to one or the other.
I see ALA has restructured and their outlook looks positive whereas ITP is OK for income but not growth. Your thoughts and recommendations?

Q: Can you rank the blow stocks from as either a buy or a sell? Any of those 3 you feel particularly strong about either way?
Algonquin Power
Altagas
Stantec

Also, I'm looking to swap H&R Reit for a better one (either Industrial or Multi-family focused)... is there a particular REIT you like best? H&R has too much retail and office imo.

Thank you and please feel free to deduct 2 question points since this is two questions.

Q: Hello 5i Team
I currently own ALA with a purchase price of $20.80.
I desire to sell the stock at $20.80 or greater before the end of 2019 with a preference after November 25 so I receive the December 15 dividend.
Which is the better option:
1 - Do I enter a limit order ($20.80) with an expiry date of December 27 and wait for the order to fill?
2 - Do I sell a call option (December 20, 2019) with a strike price of $21 which provides about $0.15 per share (before commission) and if the shares are not called away, then sell the shares after December 20? The option premium will further reduce my cost basis.
If I sell a call option with a strike price of $21.00, if the share price rises to $21.00 on November 25 (as an example) are the shares called away immediately or are the shares called away only if the share price on December 20 is equal to or greater than $21.00?
Thanks
