Q: The price of natural gas seems to be rising, particularly LNG in Asia. First question: Is that correct and, if so, is that the spot price or are long term contracts rising similarly? Does it indicate increasing demand?
If Altagas is primarily a utility involved in the transportation, processing, and use of gas, what is the company's net exposure to increasing gas prices, positive or negative?

Q: Thanks for your precious advise. I experience my best investment years since I enrolled with your service. Retired investor with a long term view (I hope LOL LOL) I currently own the above mentioned stocks and would like to increase marginally my weighting in energy. KEY and TOU have the most weight currently. All can be increased in weight but would rather add to 1 or 2 max. A mix of good dividend and capital appreciation is sought. Where would you go from here? I don't mind adding another company if need be for better diversification if needed. Please rank in terms of preference.

Thanks

Yves

Q: Now that Biden had made it clear that he will cancel Keystone pipe line. What impact does this have on the above four companies? With this in mind how would rank these companies based on growth and safety of dividends?

Thank you

Q: Hi 5i,
Please rank the safety of current dividend payments over the next 3 years for the companies listed below. Assign a 10 for absolutely no chance of a reduction and a 1 for almost certain a reduction will happen in the next 3 years. Although I do not want to influence you on the rankings, I would give the Royal Bank a 10 as an example.

AP.un
ALA
BCE
BIP.un
BPY.un

Please deduct as many credits as you see fit.

Thanks
John

Q: Trying to reduce the number of stocks I hold. Currently I am broadly diversified across sectors and large cap/small cap, growth/dividend payers, so those are not concerns. I look at total return, and have a long term horizon, 5+ years. Comfortable with risky stocks. I have smallish positions in these 12 stocks and would like to sell maybe 6 to 8 of them, and redeploy the money into a few of the others on the list or into some of my other holdings. Would you select 6 - 8 of the above that you think are less likely to perform well over 5+ years, and could be sold, and maybe 2 - 4 that could be added to. Thank you.

Q: Hi, is this a material negative development for ALA? Thanks.

“The U.S. Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals issues an immediate stay of Mountain Valley Pipeline's stream and wetland crossing permits in southern West Virginia and Virginia. The order will block construction across waterways for months while the appeal plays out.”

Q: Hello 5i, I purchased these stocks at a much higher (higher) price. As we approach tax loss selling , which ones are worth keeping? and which ones sell now?
Thanks for your great service.

Q: The Canadian pipelines had a bit of a dip on Wednesday. Is this share price decline related at all to the hurricane in the US? If so, how will the hurricane impact business for the Canadian pipelines, as a whole?

Thanks.

Q: Hello Peter, I am intrigued after reading that a Canadian can earn about $50,000 per year of dividend income without paying any income tax. I know about your income portfolio of course, but with a view to maximizing just Canadian eligible dividend income, what would you think of the following portfolio of 14 stocks. Equal weighted, the stocks would yield 5.3%. (Disregard lack of market diversification; this can be achieved in one’s registered accounts.) Also, if one wanted to pare down the list to 10, which 4 would you delete?
BCE, CM, ENB, FTS, CNQ, AQN, CPD, FSZ, MG, KBL, POW, ALA, BIPC and NTR. Thanks!

Q: How would you rank these three companies in terms of growth, and safety. I am not too keen about dividend as I do not need the income. However, I am concerned about preservation of capital. Please explain.
Thank you

Q: I hold these energy related stocks which are all in the red from 15% to 45%. In what order would you rank them? Would you sell all of them or keep some? If there is no tax loss that can be offset against tax gain, would you still sell some or all of them?

Q: I have several beat up stocks that are now small holdings so looking to clean up the mess a bit and reduce my holdings to a more reasonable number. These are all in my unregistered accounts so will generate a tax loss although that wont do me much good this year with no likely gains to harvest.... So my general plan was to sell some and consolidate in other holdings I already have: ( use as many credits as required)

Sell HSE ( 1/4 position ) and add to my 1/2 SU . I get the tax loss to carry forward and move from HSE that is mostly heavy oil to SU with less downside.

Sell CHW ( 1/4 position) and add to my 1/2 SJ. These 2 don't really match up well like HSE and SU but the CHW is such a small position, unlikely to move until late in the recovery and with the div suspended I think I am going to take my lumps on it. I am a bit lite on SJ anyways.

Sell my MX ( 1/2 position) and add to my MAL ( 1/2 position). Once again not good matches but these 2 are small position in the same account. MAL hasn't done much in terms of stock movement but has generated a good yield over the many years I have owned it. I am not feeling the love in the energy sector for the next few years and I have a felling that the good old days in oil and gas might be at an end with the cost of solar improving and the steady growth in electrifying transportation....

And last sell 1/2 position of AD and buy ALA ( 1/2 position). Once again not a great fit in terms of sector but yields are comparable and ALA is essentially a utility ( and not a oil and gas) so should be a somewhat stable yield.

I wish I had a few big winner I wanted to sell to harvest the tax losses now but will just need to put them in my pocket for the big recovery in a hopefully not to distant future... These moves reduce my small holdings, Get rid of some holding you don't have in your portfolios, de-risk my portfolio somewhat and finally move that money into companies a bit better placed to maintain their dividends during covid/post covid
