Q: Happy New year to the 5i Team,

Nice to see the CEO and other insiders buying on Dec 29th, same day I decided to take a position.

My request is, please provide comparison metrics to their piers in this space. In a past post you mentioned it could be a takeover candidate, who would possibly be interested if you had to guess?

Q: Happy New Year to all at 5i and to the everybody reading this. Hoping that 2022 is a good year for all of us and our families, from a financial perspective and one of well being, health and happiness.

Reviewing some of the past questions, I see that the ECN distribution is treated partially as a dividend and partioally as a "Return on Capital". For the latter, would you know how this is to be treated for tax purposes? i.e. Is it a capital gain, income, ...

Q: New member of 5i Research, switched from Motley fool, I find the reports and coverage easier to follow. I don't see US equities coverage. Does 5I only cover Canadian equities?

For a TFSA that includes all sectors except for Consumer Cyclical (don't know how I let this happen!), what would be your top five Canadian picks in Consumer Cyclicals for 2022? Should all 6K go into one of them, or should two or three be purchased for diversification purposes?

Q: I have about 10% of my portfolio in these bond ETFs XBB 2%, CLF 4%, XSB 2%, XSH 1%, PMIF 1%. They have shown a negative performance recently with CLF down 7%. The coupon reduces the losses. Will increased interest rates improve their performance? An alternative is to reduce my exposure and buy something like BCE with a low beta and a better yield (5% +). I am 79 years old and have pension income. My portfolio is conservative holding a large proportion in banks, telecoms and utilities. I am looking for stocks, ETFs with a low beta and good yield..

Q: FRDM This ETF is interesting in that its emerging market country selection is derived from qualitative metrics based on economic and personal freedoms. In the most recent annual report there is no exposure to certain large emerging markets countries that would score poorly on those metrics. Are you able to provide your opinion on this ETF based on investment merits? Thank you and happy holidays!

Q: I want to initiate positions in my unregistered investment account, but if I buy all 8 above stocks, each position would be extremely small. (But that is still an option.) Considering thoughts on inflation and interest rates, could you put these in order of priority for purchase now. These positions would primarily be for safety, with a bit of income, which is non-essential, and some growth, which is also not essential. Just looking for your confidence level of these as companies for the longish term.

Q: Hi, currently holding these Cad ETFs in RSP. What would be the best equivalent ETF's to buy in the US if I were to convert my holdings to USD and buy the US ETF. Looking for equivalent exposure with lower MER, better tax efficiency, etc... I've included some of my choices, would these be the best ones to switch to?
