Q: Hi Team,
I am down over 50% on each of PINS and EGLX. I was considering giving up on them and moving the remaining funds in to TOI; something of perhaps "higher quality growth" that is also down considerable from its highs with a stronger conviction of future success. Would this be a move to be endorsed, or should I just ride out this pain for potential recovery in EGLX and PINS? Thanks for the advice.

Q: Hi! The tech rout continues this morning. I previously was able to trade this rotation when it happened in 2021 and they seemed quite short lived. This feels a little more permanent because of the imminent end of tapering and lift off of rates. Impossible to predict, but do you see this rotation as lasting longer than the others in 2021 and if so is it too early to start nibbling at some beaten up names like SHOP and NVEI and GSY?

Also, I'm not sure why GSY is getting thrown out lately. Good valuation with good earnings and a recession doesn't seem likely.

Q: EHTH was a darling at one time within a loved sector. Others, for example GOCO and SLQT along with EHTH have been crushed. Head scratching when you look at Total Addressable Market(assuming monetization opportunity), Aging Demographics, Insider Buying, buy action by Starboard Hedge Fund etc... Yet these sectors are runaway elevators to the basement. When does the action make sense. Is this a long term play with future catalysts?

Q: I own 100 shares of STIP in my RRSP. It's expected interest is listed as slightly over 4 percent. But in my TD Waterhouse account, under expected income it shows me getting $739 dollars per year in interest or 61.60 per month. That works out to 7% in interest. Is this right? I've owned the ETF for three months and sure enough I have received the 61.60 for each of those months. If so, it is a really good return for fixed income. I'm just not sure what accounts for the discrepancy.

Q: Why is there such a variance in the performance of these bond funds. XBB seems to be the lowest and FTB the best with PMIF the second. What would you recommend holding in a portfolio. I am a 79 year old with a private pension.

Q: HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE.
My question is about the stock market in general, last time that these prices went down so low in march and april 2020, and then they took off again and i missed the rally because i got cold feet. So this time around i am asking is it a good entry point ex like square, nvei, gsy,dsg i already own lspd and toi for tech stocks can you give me a suggestion if i should still wait or go all in i have $33,000 room in my TFSA. Q: I have $20000 to invest in an resp account.

Given the ongoing fall in tech stock prices, I would like invest $10,000 to buy tech stocks low and hopefully sell high in 3 years.

Can you provide 5 Canadian stocks and 5 US stocks.

I also want to invest the other $10,000 in less volatile. Companies with a total return of 15% or more. (e.g. Energy, banks, insurance, etc...)

Q: I've heard on a recent podcast that the 'buy and hold' strategy will not work anymore in the current investing environment and that one's holding period shouldn't be more than 10 to 14 months. Would you agree with this?

Q: I sold DND , DCBO, LSPD in my TFSA prior to Xmas and replaced same with TFII, TSU, and TOI. I sold DND prior to both new acquisitions and LSPD in the $63. dollar range. After this NVEI was hit by the short report and still in my TFSA. Do I pick 1 of DBD, NVEI or LSPD for my 2022 contribution or do you have a better suggestion?

Q: I know there is not a simple/easy answer. I have some pretty good returns in my oil holdings but would like to let them run a bit more. However, between Mike McGlone of Bloomberg (very bearish on oil) and Eric Nuttall and Rafi Tamazian (very bullish) I am conflicted. How are you feeling about the price of oil over the next 6 - 12 months?
