Q: Hi,

Usually I don't ask about small daily moves but any news about why AXON is down 9% today? I can't find anything specific. Volume doesn't seem too significant on the selloff today. The only news I see are a new overweight weighting by Piper Sandler and a new acquisition announced yesterday. I'm up 137% gain in this name and I like the long term story, although at 106X PE and 18X PS, its on the higher end of its valuation average. Its at a 3% weight in my portfolio and I usually just like to hold long term growth compounders instead of trading in and out of them. Thoughts on adding more here or just hold? Thanks!

Q: Lots of praise for AXON in the Q&A section lately, although the stock has actually dropped about $150 since the initial pop from earnings. Does the recent fall represent a good opportunity to step in?

Q: Sharing this for other investors in AXON, the question on Sep 3 RE: AXON's performance. For me personally, in addition to the points made by 5i I think AXON has a big moat and is quite sticky if you understand policing budgets. Their suite of products really helps police be more efficient and less lethal.

Q: Can you share where CVLT stacks up with some of the growth names more widely discussed here? Where would it rank as an investment compared to NBIS, PNG, ZDC, AXON, CLBT and CLS? Perhaps rank from highest to lowest conviction if not too much trouble. Is it a good entry point today or would you wait to see something specific before initiating a position?

Q: Hello 5i,

I'm considering an option's strategy that would allow me to capture the upside to stock ideas (e.g., smaller cap companies) in cases where I would prefer to not purchase the stock, as I already have quite a few stocks especially in the technology sector. For example, I was thinking of buying a few call options for CLBT at a strike price of $20, expiring Jan. 16, 2026 for around $0.65. I would sell to close the options a bit ahead of the expiry date if the stock price is above $20. I have previously sold puts for things like AXON and CLS but then the stock price took off and I was left with a reasonable premium but nothing compared to the price appreciation. I would appreciate any thoughts you have about this idea. Also wondering what your top 5 ideas might be for the US market with a strike price/timeframe for the option.

Q: Help me understand why Axon has performed so well. Revenue has grown nicely but

Free cash flow is lumpy (-$190M LTM)
ROIC and ROCE are low (-0.1% and 0% LTM)
Margins are thin (2.8% EBITDA)

It has a lot of hallmarks of a poor investment but it's up 717% over the past 5 years.

Why?

Q: I recently sold Nvidia in my tfsa. I sold a call option on it and it was pretty close to the strike price, I let it get called away, since I am overweight Nvidia. Now that it is down I am tempted to buy it again. I can’t let myself forget the overweight aspect, though. Do you have another suggestion that I could replace it with? I want something nearly as good that I can sell options on, thus no or a small dividend. Sector doesn’t matter. I am also full weight on Shopify and Google. I am also open to smaller stocks that could show growth and are relatively safe—celestica and Nebius?

I am attempting to diversify away from NVDA due to its large percentage of my holdings. I also have good gains in both NBIS and VRT although I am comfortable with their current weighting and both have room to grow. Assuming all 3 will somewhat move in unison does it make more sense to pick a non AI related stock rather than add to NBIS and VRT? If that is the case can you give me suggestions on what to add?

Q: Thoughts on the current overall market and going forward 1-2 years? I just read Howard Marks latest memo and he is cautious at these levels based on over valuation and many other speculative factors that are often discussed here. I have a very growth weighted portfolio and high embedded gains. I am a long term investor but would like to mitigate any large drawdowns when a correction comes to preserve gains. Currently my more defensive holdings are COST, DOL, ATD, IFC. Currently holding no utilities. I also hold large anchor names such as CSU, LMN, BN, BKNG, AXON, and WSP. What are your top defensive names?

If I trim my tech, I assume adding to DOL, ATD, COST, IFC be more defensive. I know you've mentioned these names as other good defensive names as well, COST, PG, ABBV, L, ATD, FTS, H, ENB, FTS, BEPC, H, SLF, RY, TD, GRT.UN, T, L, BAM.

Or would buying some covered call ETF's that offer some good yield reduce the drawdown.
Which are your top covered call ETF's? Or adding to some of these defensive ETF's would be good too? Defensive US etf'S: VDC, VPU, VHT

Q: After recently reporting excellent quarterly results and reaching new highs, Axon share price has declined significantly. I’m wondering why there’s been such a sudden shift in momentum?

Q: My son currently has Meta (META), Nebius (NBIS), Amazon (AMZN), and EIF Corp (EIF) in his TFSA, plus an ETF (ZSP) for some diversity. It’s a small portfolio but he really wanted to hold some individual stocks and not just ETFs. Would you be comfortable adding Nvidia (NVDA) and Axon (AXON) at current prices? They are two of my favorite stocks in my non-registered account but I know the prices have really run up. Would you have any better suggestions? Thanks.
