Q: As a follow up question to August 18, when you say the market is treating TOI and LMN as a current day CSU, is this a good or bad thing wrt to growth prospects? Does this mean there is less runway for growth, for TOI and LMN, then CSU had in the early days?
Thanks
Jeff
Q: I started to monitor Enbridge recently. I noticed that the payout ratio is around 185% according to Morningstar. Did ENB maintain such ratio for a long period of time ? If so, how can a cie manage such a ratio for a long period of time ? If not, what has caused the payout ratio to reach that level ?
Q: Assuming western governments favour financial repression to get themselves out of their respective debt mess, what does this all mean for a recent retiree like me? Are any stock sectors worth investing in? How about gold / material stocks and certain REITs ? Are utilities safe?
No government leader had any backbone over the past couple of decades and chose to continually “kick the can down the road” and now there’s no way out….and the piper will eventually be paid.
Q: I'm in my mid seventies and retired. My pension income covers my monthly needs and I do have excess capital to invest. Dividend income is always welcome but I also would appreciate some growth in my portfolio. I realize you lean towards companies that have strong growth profiles and often find great investments in that arena. My questions are two fold.
1. Based on my limited explanation of my personal investment profile, could you list some of the companies you favour that could be, 'just too risky" for me to invest in?
2. Alternatively, could you list some of your favourite companies that I should consider investing in?
Q: Saw a pundit on BNN last week who was short BN. I can't recall his name ......I don't pay much attention to the shorts but he did say one thing that interested me. He said that 80% of BN's NAV is the property owned by Brookfield Property Partners . Can you confirm that and comment on the significance of that figure if any ?
I'm also thinking or swapping my position in BEP.UN { up 238% in a RRIF } for BN on a " What have you done for me lately ? " basis . Quarterly reports seem to be dependent on the weather ...... I've also noticed that even when they have a bad quarterly report the stock does not get punished which confuses me ...... Anyways would you endorse a switch from BEP.UN to BN ?
Q: Each of MPW and NWH.un seem to be having issues despite their ostensibly strong medical business strategies. Can you recommend medical properties ETF/Landlords who are doing better vis-a-vis growth/dividend?
Q: Oh gosh, Keith Richards for the last 2 months in the Money Saver is raising red flags about the market.....comparing where the market is now to pass markets that have plunged downwards, like big time. And there is news out of China, the yuan falling and economy slowing down, like big time, too This makes me wonder, seriously about doing this --- should I sell all or most of the stocks held in the TFSA and LIRA accounts as there would be no tax to pay.....but hold on the those in the trade accounts What are 5iR's take of the stock market going forward and my pondering about selling??? .........Thanks for your insights.........Tom
Q: Marathon has been on a tear but recently it seems to have lost its momentum. I have noticed a number of analyst downgrades in last week. Is this reason for MPC's decline or are their other factors ie hurricane season that I'm not aware of. Would you still recommend it as a buy at this time. Thanks for your expertise
Q: Good Afternoon
I am down 20% on BEPC.
Is BEPC the kind of solid dividend paying blue chip that one can average down?
I will appreciate also your comments for BEPC's prospects going forward.
Thanks
Q: From a global perspective would you favor European, US or international stocks/EFTs to invest at this time ? I would like to diversify my portfolio a little better and therefore sell some Canadian ETFs and purchase European, US and international ETFs .
Thank you . Miroslaw
