Q: Can you recommend 3-5 choices for an RRSP investment. Can you confirm that one would generally choose less speculative investments or less risky investments within an RRSP, as one can not "harvest" a tax loss within an RRSP

Russel Metals Inc. (RUS)

Stelco Holdings Inc. (STLC)
Q: Good Morning. My mother (94 years old) is looking for a metals stock. She asked about Rus. I see it has been flat for a year (-2%). 5i seems to like STLC which is near a 52-w high and up about 60% over a year. I have Teck.b and it is near a 52-w high, so not sure about recommending that. I was thinking NTR (materials) may be a suggestion. Or what about FM as a new thought?
What would the experts at 5i suggest?
BTW, I suggested that she subscribe to 5i but she reminded me that she has never used a computer ... maybe lucky her!

Q: The Nutrien P/E looks way too low. Is that because the learnings are not forward looking? What is the forward looking P/E in the next 12 months?
Q: I'm interested in re-entering the gold mining market with central banks around the world are starting to increase their gold reserves. I used own these three names - YRI, BTO, and FNV - in the past. I'm surprised that all three are now dividend payers!
Would you be interested in these three names again at this juncture? Kindly rank them in the order of preference and also please add if there are other gold miner names that I should consider (regardless of yield).
Thanks.

Amerigo Resources Ltd. (ARG)

Hudbay Minerals Inc. (Canada) (HBM)
Q: My third question today!! Hope you don't mind the blitz of questions! What's up with copper miners. The share price of the copper miners I own have moved up substantially in 2023 although copper is not up that much. I have ARG for their debt free balance sheet and juicy dividend, Lundin for a large miner with a good dividend and HBM which i tend to trade since it appears to me to be irrationally volitile. I like the copper mining space long term but I do trade portions of positions because of the extreme volitility. I am thinking of taking some profits in HBM (virtually no dividend) and keeping LUN and ARG. What do you think of this strategy? Who do you like in copper miners and why?

Q: I own both these stocks. I am even on Quis but have a loss on RHT. If you were to own one of these which would it be? I was thinking of selling the RHT and adding to my Quis position.
Q: Did you see Jeff Tonkin's interview with Amber on BNN today? I love the straight shooting, no nonsense way that Jeff Tonkin does interviews. Unfortunately I don't hold any Birchcliff because I have a lot of TOU and ARX. Looks like TOU is going to continue with special Divies but ARX dividend isn't as juicy. If nat gas prices stay in the $3 to $4 range I don't think that nat gas shares prices are going to move substantially so should I concentrate on dividends instead? If so would you recommend swapping out ARX for BIR? Tonkin sounds very committed to the new dividend and their debt free status gives Tonkin the backing to commit to a juicy dividend.
Q: I guess you spoke too soon yesterday as Birchcliff upped their dividend to $.20/quarter from $.02/quarter. Any thoughts on their press release yesterday announcing the new dividend rate plus 2023 and 5 year plans?
Q: HI there
Wondering what your thoughts are on the announced .80 Dividend. Do you believe this is sustainable/ And what about cutting the Cap program, if needed, to continue the dividend. Too good to be true?
Thanks
Stuart

Q: If you held no current position in NTR but wanted to begin one, would you be inclined to buy before or after earnings are released on February 8? I ask because the stock was clobbered after earnings were released in early November 2022.
I realize this is a timing issue which can be a mug's game but I am still interested in your gut feeling.
Thanks as always for your expertise.

Q: As a new purchase, can you advise which of these three you would recommend and why, please? Thanks, Dan
Q: Good morning team, BMO, TD and Royal have all announced big acquisitions in the past year. Do you expect each of these to be positive for shareholders in the next 2-4 years. What are some of the individual risks to these deals being accretive? Which of the 3 deals do you expect will provide the best return for investors and why?

Global X Artificial Intelligence Semiconductor Index ETF (CHPS)
Q: I am interested in your ideas for ETF that cover semiconductor stocks. For RRSP. Would prefer non-US-situs ETFs, if good ones exist (estate planning reasons); however, you can suggest US-situs ETFs as well. Can be either US or CA dollar-denominated.

Q: The US dollar seems to be heading lower. You think this might continue for the year?
What is the overall consensus?
Te Mexican peso already strengthened 7% in the last couple of weeks.
How could we play this theme?
Are there any companies you suggest which would benefit from a lower dollar?
Any currencies you think that would have a good upside?
