Investment Q&A

Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: Hi guys, I own the following with the respective total portfolio weightings. My TFSA is all CDN and RRSP is a mix of USD/CDN. When I rebalance, should I try and rebalance with respect to % of TFSA and % of RRSP or rebalance each holding as a percent of overall portfolio? If the latter, I would consolidate some of the holdings in my TFSA to bump up the individual weightings. Are there any obvious adjustments that I should make? I’m heavy on AAPL but have sold so much of it over the years I’m very tempted to let the remaining shares ride.
Please deduct as many credits as you see fit and many thanks for the excellent service you provide. The Q/A is invaluable as are the periodic market summaries. You’ve pulled me away from the panic button many, many times.

Q: Please recommend a few stocks to deploy some cash. I am hesitant to buy into these strong markets (I'm cheap) but am getting impatient waiting for any kind of correction. Looking for reasonable safety, decent dividend and some growth, irrespective of sector.

Thanks as always

Q: Hi,
I have the above stocks in my wife's account and I'm looking to diversify further. Ultimately, I'm looking to build my own ETF through individual stocks. What else would you add here to fully diversify?

Thanks
Robert

Q: Greetings 5i - I am helping my 29-year old daughter with her TFSA. She has $9,500 to invest and we're thinking about putting it into VFV:CA so she has some US exposure. She currently holds BNS, FTS, PPL and PBH. Alternatively, we were thinking of dividing it between AQN and ATD.B or BAM. Would appreciate your thoughts on what's best for a long term hold. Happy New Year to you all.

Q: Peter, I understand that many of Couche-Tard's convenience stores are anchored by gas stations. Do you foresee a risk relating to (or has the company planned for) the gradual but inevitable reduction in gas-powered vehicles, as EVs replace them? It seems to me that if the Company can commit the capital for, and has the room for, high-grade charging stations, there could be more upside than downside because drivers will be forced to 'kill time' in the stores while their vehicles recharge. But if the Company can't or won't provide charging stations, this would seem to lower its customer base over time. Your thoughts appreciated!

Q: I am building small trust accounts for each grandchild that hopefully will get them interested and informed in the market.
Can you comment on current holdings and suggest 2 or 3 additional stocks?
Criteria: Canadian, dividend-paying, relatively stable but with growth potential?
Many thanks for your great service.

Q: In the company data for PKI the earnings estimate is $1.52 which is a negative 22% growth over 2019, is this correct?
For FSV the estimate is $2.38 which is negative 3.6% over the previous year?
And for ATD.B there are no estimates, do have any estimates for next year?
Your assistance as always is greatly appreciated.
Mike
