Q: Topping up my TFSA - have narrowed it down to one of the above companies. Which one would you choose and why?

Q: At current levels do you think TOI presents a good entry point for a long term holding? Alternatively, do you think GLXY may be a good option for a more hands on holding?
The context is a TFSA account where losses should be avoided and the goal is to achieve above market returns. i.e. the alternative would be a market ETF.

Q: A few months ago, I purchased a small position in GLXY, in a TFSA.It is down about 40% and it is now well below 1 % of our overall portfolio. A current contribution results in some new funds being available. I am considering adding to GLXY or alternatively moving on to SVM. Dividends are not a priority, and the objective for this account is good growth, with accepting some measure of risk. .Which of these 2 do you think is the better route to go? Also, do you think the recent regulatory change in China regarding silver is an impediment for that company; if so, is there another silver play that you would prefer? Thanks so much for your excellent service.

Q: Happy New Year!

I am looking at where to deploy my TFSA contribution for this year and would be interested to hear your thoughts. My largest position is BN at close to 5% so I am thinking of adding to my smaller positions listed above. If this were your portfolio, would you add this year's $7000 to one stock, or add smaller amounts to two or three stocks? Or, would you only add to BN as it is still at a sleep at night percentage?

Thank you!

Q: In my TFSA, I have a double position in BN, and full positions in POW, SIS, PPL, CSH.UN, TRI and BAM. I also have half positions in AFN (which I know is not your favourite) and DSG. Would you add to one/some of these (which?) or add something different. After my 2026 contribution, I will have enough cash to about a half position. I prefer to consider Canadian stocks for this account.

Thanks for you help.

Q: I want to have my TFSA grow bigger. Of the stocks listed, in what order would you add them to the TFSA? How long of a hold do you suggest, and what are target prices you'd be comfortable with? Is it better to wait for a pullback? Take as my question deductions as needed.

Q: I would like to contribute an existing holding from my non-registered account into my TFSA in early 2026, but am unsure about which holding to contribute. Which of these do you think makes the most sense to move into my TFSA based on potential upside/income? I have a long-term 10+ year hold period. Thanks!

Q: I’m doing a fairly major portfolio clean-up and account optimization exercise.
Specifically, I’m removing dividend-oriented and income-generating stocks from my TFSA and RRSP that are better suited to a non-registered account, and reallocating TFSA/RRSP capital to assets that benefit most from tax sheltering.

At a broad level, I’d appreciate your perspective on:

• Which CAD and USD names are best suited to an RRSP (e.g., U.S. dividend payers, global compounders, cyclicals, etc.)
• Which CAD and USD names are best suited to a TFSA (long-term growth, compounding, low income leakage)

I’m less interested in yield optimization and more focused on long-term after-tax efficiency and proper account placement.

If helpful, feel free to answer at a category level (e.g., “U.S. dividend aristocrats,” “Canadian compounders,” etc.) or with specific examples you think are particularly well-suited.

Thanks — looking forward to your thoughts.

Q: We are looking to inject more growth into our TFSAs - can accept reasonable degree of risk. Looking for concentrated list 10 stocks for 3-5 year hold.

Q: Tax issues aside, is there a clear favourite here for an in kind contribution to our TFSA's come January 1?

Thanks,

Q: If I do an in-kind transfer of a security from a non-registered account to my TFSA, and the security is at a loss, is there any way to eventually capture the capital loss, such as when the security is sold within the TFSA. Or is the capital loss gone forever?

Q: Hello. If I sell a US stock in a non-registered account for a loss, and I transfer the cash to my TFSA and re-purchase the same stock, can I still claim the capital loss?

Q: Regarding Steve's question on Nov 25, 2025 about the TFSA withdrawal and re-contribution limit.

Using his example, if one were to withdraw $122,000 today, could one re-contribute $40,000 in '26 then $40,000 in '27 then $42,000 in '28 or does the re-contribution rule only apply to the following year and ONLY the following year?

Q: My question is about a TFSA. If I placed the maximum $ 102,000 into a TFSA, and now withdraw all of it , let's say $122,000. Can I replace all the money, or would i be limited by the maximum.

What about if my TFSA didn't do well, and I withdraw all of it say 80,000. , and close the TFSA. How much money could I deposit into new TFSA?

Thank you

Steve

Q: Can you tell me the specifics about which types of stocks will work best in a TFSA? I know in the past you have recommended some not be in a TFSA, but I don't recall the details. Also, could you provide a few specific suggestions of stocks that would be good to buy now for that account? Thank you.

Q: I "used to believe" that TFSA was an indication to buy "excellent " growth stocks with strong potential..The problem is that, if only 1-2 of those drops significantly ,they could easily annihilate all other gains ! It appears to me that selling stocks in a TFSA when they double or more, and selling stocks that keep going down (with 10-15 % loss) ,in order to balance the portfolio,is quite helpful. Your feedback or suggestion shall be appreciated.
