Q: Can I get your thoughts on CAE's earnings ,their debt and growth prospects?
There seems to be a theme regarding the stocks I follow this earning season. Higher valuation stocks (p/e around 20+) when they meet expectations or miss by a little, seem to sell off quite dramatically at first, only the to claw back most of the day's losses. Horrible for anxiety levels. Great for day trading or establishing long term positions though, in my opinion.
Q: Aug 1, 2018 - CAE acquires Alpha-Omega Change Engineering (AOCE)
CAE today announced that CAE USA Mission Solutions Inc., a subsidiary of CAE USA, has acquired Alpha-Omega Change Engineering (AOCE) for approximately US$29 million, excluding post-closing adjustments. The acquisition will enhance CAE USA’s core capabilities as a training systems integrator (TSI), grow CAE’s position on enduring platforms such as fighter aircraft, and expand the ability for CAE USA to pursue higher-level security programs in the United States.
AOCE, based in Williamsburg, Virginia, provides a range of aircrew training services, operational test and evaluation, and engineering support services to the U.S. Department of Defense and U.S. intelligence services.
Would you please provide your opinion of this acquisition by CAE and what is their competition in the Defense Sector?
Thanks
Q: Always nice to have a problem such as where to put the new money received from a 53% premium takeout of ECI. Thanks 5i!
Thinking of getting into CAE or PBH. Any preference? Looking for a bit more growth with some dividend over a 4-5 year period.
Thanks
Sal
Q: Good day guys!
Question on weighting in different sector:
I am currently over weight on energy 17% (VET, ENB, ZCL,EFX,PKI,VII) and underweight on industry 4% (on has NFI), if I want to trim it, which stock would you recommend to sale in energy and add in industry? Thanks!
Q: I hold MAXR and show somewhat large losses on the holding. I bought before it changed its name from McDonald D.W. I now do not recall why I even bought it. Was it on one of the model portfolios in 2017? Until 2016-17 I had only US stocks. A US premium letter I subscribe to (New Constructs, who often use robo analytics) just listed MAXR as a stock that one may short--I don't short stocks. New Constructs put MAXR in their “Dangerous Model portfolio” in which they name stocks worth shorting. What do you advise? MAXR is however finally beginning to show some positive movement. Is that slow price climb up sustainable ? What are MAXR’s prospects and is it worth keeping? If you advise sell, what would you replace it with?
Q: I realize these companies are all very different in many ways, but I want to add 2 or 3. I'm completing the BEP and adding to the GMP. Could you rank them in terms of "best opportunity," meaning the share price does not reflect the quality and potential of the company. In other words, seems mis-priced in terms of your valuation of the company because share price is down for no apparent good reason from a fundamental perspective.
Q: Hello 5i team,
In response to a member's question regarding the number of holdings in the BE portfolio, you mentioned that your were hoping to reduce it from 27 to 25...hopefully via possible takeovers; which 2 did you have in mind?
Thanks,
Antoine
Q: Good Morning, Are there any Canadian companies that may benefit from the tariffs China has placed on the US. i.e. Could tariffs make Corby's more competitive in China vs. US distillers? Could CAE and BBD benefit from tariffs on Boeing?
Thanks
