Q: Hello Peter,
Is there a reason by First Solar is declining daily? Given investor activism and potential of Qualcomm showing interest, is Intel a good bet right now? Thanks very much

Q: I recently sold my NVEI shares (basically broke even over the highs and lows) and have some cash to deploy in my TFSA. I am looking for recommendations on some growth stocks (US or CDN) for 3-5 year hold minimum that have good prospects. I already own PRL and LMN and was thinking about ARM, AVGO, and NVDA. However, is it too late for these stocks due to their impressive gains over the last couple of years. Any other stocks to consider? Thanks for your feedback.

Q: I currently hold full positions in NVDA and VRT. I'm considering adding a half position in AVGO, but wondering if that's too much concentration in closely related sectors. Would you hold all of these stocks or look for greater diversity?

Q: Hi,
I reviewed Q&A on INTC post "melt down"! I can understand your words of caution.

My question is based on a recent comment by a guest on BNN Bloomberg (Mark Sebastien) who said that INTC's fabrication unit alone is worth 22$. With QCOM and hedge funds circling around and the technical pattern indicating the possibility of island gap reversal, worth taking a small position for a quick 20-30% profit?
(22 to 30$ jump).

Am I dreaming or being delusional?!

Q: In replying to Dave's question on CRM you ended answer with "We generally view CRM positively and think it's valuation at 25x forward earnings is fair, although there are higher growth opportunities at similar multiples. We would be fine switching from CRM into another mega-cap tech name. "

Please list your top 5. Thx

Q: As a senior, I found the AI revolution quite confusing with so many companies involved. I wanted to understand their roles better before investing more. The explanations I found on Google were too technical and didn’t give me a clear picture. Then I discovered Bing and Meta AI, which were very helpful. I asked them to explain each company’s work using everyday analogies. Meta AI used the construction of a vehicle to illustrate each company’s role, and I found it much easier to understand. It was so interesting that I wanted to share it. Thanks!

Here's an analogy using the construction of a vehicle to explain the work of the above AI companies:

1. _NVDA (NVIDIA)_: Engine manufacturer (GPUs) - Provides the powerful engine (compute power) that drives the vehicle (AI system).

2. _AVGO (Broadcom)_: Electrical system supplier - Ensures seamless connectivity and communication between various vehicle components (devices and systems).

3. _SMCI (Super Micro)_: Chassis manufacturer - Builds the strong foundation (servers) that supports the vehicle's (AI system's) components.

4. _ARM (Arm Holdings)_: Vehicle architect - Designs the efficient and powerful blueprint (chip architectures) for the vehicle's engine and other components.

5. _PLTR (Palantir)_: Data analyst - Helps the vehicle's (organization's) mechanics understand and optimize performance by analyzing complex data.

6. _ASML (ASML Holding)_: Precision toolmaker - Creates ultra-accurate machinery (lithography machines) that crafts tiny, precise components (chips) for the vehicle.

7. _TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor)_: Chip manufacturer - Builds the intricate silicon components (chips) that power various vehicle systems.

8. _VRT (Vertiv)_: Power and cooling specialist - Ensures the vehicle's (AI system's) engine and components receive reliable power and cooling, preventing overheating and damage.

In this analogy, each company plays a vital role in constructing and optimizing the vehicle (AI system), from designing and building components to ensuring efficient performance and maintenance

Q: In a recent Market Update (Aug 22) you spoke of the power of compounding and the key characteristics of a high compounding stock such as higher volatility, strong sales growth, lower dividends, premium valuations, etc. As a follow up to this topic could you please provide the 5 best US companies (or more if you wish) which you consider to fit these characteristics for long term compounding. Many thanks. Cal

Q: Follow Up from my recent question.

A couple questions weren't answered, but can the following one be addressed?

4. AMD. Is it worth holding the 2nd fiddle? Would it be better used in something in 1st in a different space? like AVGO or QCOM?

With your answer to SMCI from my previous question, do you have an idea based on multiples, etc that you could see an achievable price target at for 12 months?

And Finally, the last couple weeks have been ROUGH. In the other answers I've seen you mention issues with the Election, Recession fears, and just general fear with earnings coming. Are we in for a rougher ride? I know that not being invested for the few key days in a period of time drastically reduces total returns over a period, but do you foresee one of those key days coming say, by the end of the year? Would it be prudent for an investor in times like these to say, go to say 25, 50, or 75% cash? Which?

I picked up PRL and ASPN after your response to mine and other questions, and am 10 and 20% down. Did I jump the gun? Worth going to a full position in the current turbulence? Or is it worth a steadier broad market etf or energy Utility until things calm down?

Q: I am up 140% on NVDA and 65% up on DRX ( DRX has lost some gains recently

I am looking to maximize gains for the next 2 years.

I am planning to sell half of my NVDA shares and all my DRX shares to buy MU and AVGO.

The thought is that I want to cash some gains from NVDA and DRX might not grow much after the recent insider sale.

Does this sound like a good plan? Or do you think that NVDS, AVGO and MU are in similar markets and would suffer once AI-hype dies down in the next 2 years?

Do you have other alternatives for a 2 year hold? I am buying with Canadian dollars. So stocks need to be listed on TSX or NEO.

Thanks
