Q: Dear 5i
Is investing in insurance companies like SLF a good idea in a declining interest rate enviroment , or are they like banks and make up the difference in lost revenue in other areas of their businesses ?
Also would now be a good time to buy into REITS , DIR specifically as it has not done very well over the past year and therefor more likely to rise more also with declining rates ?

Q: Appreciated your recent report on DIR. I am a long-term holder, and always thinking of adding more. It does seem to have been a bit challenged in the last year or two, and wondering how that compares to its' peers in industrial warehousing? Your report lists the peers as Prologis, yes, but also StorageVault (which I thought was primarily personal storage units) and Riocan, which is primary retail. What am I missing? Aren't there other industrial warehousing companies you can use for a more accurate comparison?

Q: Hi, in my rrif account, I have both, and I’m considering selling dir.un and adding to Zmi. Dir.un 5years ago was approximately $12.30 when I bought it. Today it is much the same, I think if I sold I might make $100 . Zmi seem much more diversified, safer and could actually make some capital gains. Is the .20 mer and 1.2% difference in dividend a deal breaker, or would you consider this move for a riff account.

Q: I have substantial units of DIR.UN and I am wondering when the $10.80 USD ($15.01 CD) take over by Morgan Properties would be reflected in the CDN price of the units?
As of this writing the price of DIR is only $12.29 CD?
I don't want to sell if the price will come up. Usually the acquired company's unit price goes up and the acquirer's goes down? Thoughts. Thanks. Bill

Q: Good morning

Ive held both of these reits for several years in my rrifs. On car I’m down 13% and on dir flat.

Over the past year car is down 15% and dir is down 5%. That performance doesn’t include dividends

Can you suggest 2 other equities that offer similar income but will come with additional growth?

Q: Hello 5i,
I see that DIR.UN just reported on Aug. 5. No questions have been asked since July and the last report was Sept. 2024 when you had it as a "B+".
Do you see yourselves updating the report any time soon?
Any recent changes in your thinking on this one? Was the recent quarter notable in either a positive or negative manner? Or, was it just a "steady as she goes" kind of quarter?
