Q: I have these four ETFs currently and I have new money to add. Should I top up one (or all) of these, or is there one you feel would be a good complement. The four ETFs probably indicate my risk profile, but generally I am pretty conservative (a couch potato). Thank you.

Q: Starting last august I was convinced by my financial advisor to put 50% of my non registered portfolio into bonds so that I would have money available to invest into equities if there was a down turn. (the dry powder part) The funds used for this allocation were:
HAB 46% allocation of bonds at present time.
FID5732 Multi sector bond fund. 30%
HAF. 12%
XBB. 12%
Of these the XBB has fallen quite a bit
The FID5732 is falling now.
No income is needed from this portfolio for five years.

My question is this a good strategy for the dry powder of the portfolio?
Is there a better suggestion for the bond mix? or is cash better?

Your help is greatly appreciated.
By the way during this time period no mention of using any of these funds to reallocate to equities has been made.

Please note that this part of the portfolio has now fallen to be 30% of the portfolio total.

Q: I purchased QBTC and BTCG.UN which I understand are closed funds, therefore can trade at a premium or discount to NAV. Now I see Purpose has come out with an ETF. Can you compare these funds and provide pros/cons for the closed funds vs ETF. If someone had new money today and if the closed funds were actually trading at NAV, which would you recommend and why? Don’t want to switch un-necessarily but if BTCC.B is a better product, it might be worth it.

Q: Hi 5i
My son-in-law has a Registered Disability Savings Plan, and I'm going to help him to invest and manage the money to achieve growth with low to moderate risk. He's only 30 so has many years to grow his (and the Government's) contributions. Presently, he only has a mutual fund in it, the Mackenzie Ivy Global Balanced Fund which I've discovered has a 2.38% MER.
Firstly, I'd like to replace this mutual fund with a low cost ETF that is relatively safe but can still show some good growth. To this end, can you recommend two or three Canadian ETFs that might be suitable for me to do further research on.
Secondly, in addition to an ETF, at this time he wants to have some single stocks in the RDSP as well. Can you please recommend three or four Canadian blue-chip type growth equities, and that would be of interest to a millennial...so not too boring : )
Thank you!

Q: Could you please rank these consumer defensive stocks and why - STZ, DOL, ATD.B, MRU and PG.
Need to increase my US and International exposure, however considering selling STZ (in a RRSP)
What are you thoughts? Is there an ETF in this sector you favour with US /International exposure? Thank you
