Q: Pls comment on their earnings.

Q: Good morning! Which of these two today, and why, please?
Q: Good day to you folks! I have been looking a this US stock along with CPT and was hoping you might provide some insight into the drop in price, is there some underlying problem in the rental business? Would either be a 'safe' investment based on their latest reporting and would you be able to offer suggestions that might be more attractive from a security perspective.
Appreciate all your EXCELLENT advice and support.
Ted.

Q: Are you surprised of the performance of the stock since announcing they were no longer pursuing the takeover of Seven & I? There was a sharp uptick in the stock on the first day, but since drafted back to the $70 range again. Is this a continued buying opportunity?
Q: Hello 5i,
Are the distribution from this ETF classified as interest income or dividends?
What type of account is this ETF best to invest in, a T FSA; RRIF or Cash Account?
Thank you.

Q: Time for an OTEX update, have we finally turned a corner? How much of a risk do you think AI presents?
Q: What are your thoughts on Vermillion today? The stock was $56 8 years ago, now struggles to maintain $10. Is it just horrible management? Should one hold and hope. They sell much of their products at elevated prices, but still can't seem to gain any traction.
Q: Can you recommend a similar ETF to this, but in USD?

such as - HOOD,VRT,COIN,PLTR,KSI,APP,IONQ,PRL,GSY,KTOS,SOUN,RKLB,VHI,NBIS and CLS - having digested those recent results and conference calls are there any that have impressed beyond your expectations or, conversely, raised any red flag?
Thanks,

Q: Good afternoon.
I hold a +/-2% position of Westshore in a RIFF. It trades cyclically and generally in a range $20-$30, which I occasionally trade around. It seemed headed to the $30 range since the start of this year, until today when it dropped over 5% on much larger than normal volume.
Do you have any insight into what this was a result of? It happens unpredictably and infrequently.
Thanks,
Dave

Q: The commentary about SSL and RGLD share purchase agreement states all figures in USD. I hold SSL in CAD. As RGLD is a US company and I plan to hold SSL for now, should it be journalled to the USD side of the account? Thank you.
Q: Hello 5i,
I see that DIR.UN just reported on Aug. 5. No questions have been asked since July and the last report was Sept. 2024 when you had it as a "B+".
Do you see yourselves updating the report any time soon?
Any recent changes in your thinking on this one? Was the recent quarter notable in either a positive or negative manner? Or, was it just a "steady as she goes" kind of quarter?
Thanks!!
Cheers,
Mike

Q: I like OTEX as a long-term holding, but am in a loss situation; for tax reasons, it would be worthwhile to realize this loss, and rebuy the security in >30 days. In the meantime, I am thinking of investing the proceeds temporarily in CGI Group (GIBa). I note that today OTEX "popped" by ~10% because of a good earnings report. Here are my questions:
1. Is this a good time to sell OTEX (with plan to rebuy a few weeks from now) or should I wait a bit, since the stock could be in a bit of an uptrend over the next few weeks?
2. Is CGI Group a good proxy for holding the proceeds of OTEX disposition for the next several weeks (or would you suggest another proxy)?
3. In general, what do you think of these two holdings-- CGI Group and OTEX-- as long-term holds? If YOUR portfolio included both companies, would you favor one over the other (i.e., greater weighting within the portfolio), and if so which one (based on long-term prospects and current valuations)?

Q: Rather than selling a position and buying it back 30 days later, can you double down on a losing position and then sell half 30 days later to capture the loss? I considered options...but sounds like one cannot use options to maintain exposure and still log a capital loss.
Q: Heard Cormark is being taken out and that prompted me to look at this stock again. Strong market activity and a budding revival of small caps and junior mining stocks might be good for this in my opinion. Also, a possible takeover target? Your thoughts on my logic, and if now is a good entry point would be appreciated. (Also, if you could comment on dividend growth and sustainability too.) Always appreciate your insight; thanks!
