Q: I get that Bn doesn’t have same credit risk exposures as many of the private credit providers but I wonder if Bn is effected if these companies such as Apollo, can no longer participate in new projects as their outflows may be too high. I believe Bn doesn’t provide 100% funding for its large investments but comes in as one of a group of players, if other players are stepping back will Bn have to slow its rate of investment?

Q: I am hearing concerns about private equity. I understand it's mostly about debt concerns. Can you summarize the concerns.

I'm not sure if BN is part of this but have always been a bit concerned with Brookfield's opacity.

BN and its related companies (BEP, BIP, BAM) make up a fairly significant chunk of my portfolio (c.20%) because I've had a lot of faith in them.

I wonder about your level of faith in them or whether concerns over private equity warrants a bit of a pullback.

Q: Hi ,

Do you see the dip in the markets as an opportunity to get into some stocks.

BN is down 16% in past month. How does the war affect BN ?

Could you suggest a few stocks that have come down as a result of this war… and present a good buying opportunity….. I am looking to buy now and hold for at least 5 years.

Thanks

Q: I hold smaller sized Positions of both of these companies and have had the intention to average into larger Positions as pricing opportunities arise.

Both have pulled back about a third from their highs ( i assume the Private Credit issue is the fear). Does that in fact represent the majority reason for the current pullback and if its the case is the fear as warranted as the relevant price pullback suggests?

Some of the opinions i hear suggest the Private Credit fears are greatly exaggerated .. whats yr take on this issue and if so might companies like BN and BAM be less exposed than the market suggests and might others like Apollo KKR and Blackstone be compelling value at current levels?

Q: Do you see any compelling investments in these asset managers that have experienced large drawdowns? Currently, I am only holding BN at a 5.3% core holding, big fan of their investment strategy, allocation, themes and Bruce Flatt. Out of the other names listed, they all have strong returns over the long term. Would you be a buyer of any of these currently or should I just stick with BN over the long term? How would you rank them now? What is the max allocation to BN one should have for the long term? I know you are very comfortable with this name. Thanks!

Q: My RRSP has a roughly 50/40/10 split between core compounders, defensive holdings, and income holdings. I will not need any of the money for at least five years. What do you think of the split? Could I please get your top stock and ETF recommendations for an RRSP today? Also, what do you think of FIE, ZRE, and covered call ETFs in an RRSP? Thanks.

Q: Good morning and thank you for your amazing insights these days .

Question regarding CNQ and BN. Two completely different sectors, but given the appreciation in CNQ in recent weeks, and the corresponding pressure in BN, I have been slowly taking some CNQ off and moving more into BN. Both are core holdings for me, but your conviction with BN is impressive and I just think it is foolish to not take small gains off the table and move more to BN on the view that this too shall pass - for both companies.

Crazy or a fair approach so long as measured?

Q: Hi 5i, and always appreciate getting independent opinion.

My understanding is BN is a large 135B market cap company with about 100B revenue. I also understand they have about 100B line of credit to use on acquisitions/funding of large scale infrastructure - (which they have a history of doing well).

I like to buy cheap and wait. Its always easier to destroy than create/build, and considering Ukraine and Middle East infrastructure devastation not to mention new technology builds related directly and indirectly to AI, I can't help but believe the future is very bright for BN business long term.

I want to take advantage of the current weakness, but Brookfield is already 8% overall. Mostly BN, but some BIPC, and BAM. I'm looking for overall return long term.

My question - if it were you, would you consider allowing BN to represent a higher % of your portfolio because of its size and diversification of business? or would you have a hard stop on size of any single equity regardless of its apparent merits.

Thanks a ton!

Q: Recently we have seen many blue chip stocks that had done really well pull back.

Companies like RBC, TD, BN, SHOP, MFC, CNR, CP, JPM, GOOG, MSFT, BRK, and others…

What are your favourite five Canadian and US large cap names that have pulled back recently? Would you be a buyer today or would you wait until the market settles a little?

Thanks
Tim

Q: These two stocks have been dropping like a stone of late.
How do you feel about these two stocks in terms of risk/reward, and are these stocks approaching a support level where one can consider adding to their position?
Thank you and I look forward to your sage advice.

Q: I know you still like BN even as a top pick for TFSA but since all the other private credit names are suffering this one seems to be lagging. I know you feel it is not the same, but it seems like others see it as similar to Apollo, Blackstone, or KKR and are lumping it with that group. Can you please explain how we need to view this company differently and how to remain patient?
