Q: I am 79 years old and retired. I have outstanding capital losses in my non-registered account. I plan to sell most of my bond ETFs, which currently pay taxable interest, and purchase shares in HBB (Horizons Canadian Select Universe Bond Index ETF - Corporate Class), which only accrues capital gains.

Could you please comment on this strategy? Would you consider it a wise or risky move?

Thank you.

Q: Hello team.
The above are my highest dividend payers in my unregistered account, however at the end next year I have to start withdrawing from RRSP and LIRA account and would likely elevate my income to a substantially higher tax bracket. For that reason I am think of reducing my income generating holdings in the unregistered account and be less focus on income. Conversely, while divesting in the unregistered account I would rebalance the RRIF to be more income oriented. Does this make sense and could you suggest 5 growth oriented equities with SOME income to replace the above. I already TD,BNS,BN,BAM, TFII (small position)?
Thank you
Frank

Q: Hi Peter,

My question is about Fidelity Monthly Income fund. I am looking for some diversification to my equity holdings. And would like to get an income fund that pays preferable a monthly dividend. I would also look at quarterly dividend. My question is does fidelity monthly income pay a dividend that would capture the dividend tax credit or is there a return on capital/interest component to it. Also what do you think of the fund and is there another you like that would check my box. thanks

Q: We sincerely wish for a speedy recovery for Mark Leonard. Mark brought immense wealth to millions of retail investors, through his wisdom and unparallel business acumen, over past 20 years.

What could be the likely impact of Mark Leonard's resignation on Lumine and Topicus companies and their shares ? Do you believe that the two spinco's are also at the risk of losing their premium valuations, like we are witnessing with CSU shares ?

Or, since they are a little insulated with this development being independent units, with their own CEO's ?

What would you do with the two holdings?

Thank You

Thank You

Q: A stock with a high dividend payout that is 95% ROC has an actual dividend payout of only 5%.
What type of account would this type of stock be best held in for tax purposes?
It seems that a margin account would be more tax efficient than a retirement account, where ROC likely is not considered on eventual withdrawal.

Q: Hi there,

MDT seems to be moving up after a long time. Given their financials now and in the future, along with any other considerations, do you think the stock price will continue its rise? Is it undervalued at this point given forecasts for next 12-24 months?

Thanks.

Q: Hello Team,

Looking at adding some funds to US stocks I already own, are you able to rank these in order from 1 to 10 based on a 3-4 year hold, I'm not worried about company size or industry. Thanks!
