Q: Why is the VIX so low just weeks prior to a politically driven US debt crisis. A similar crisis in 2011 exhibited extreme volatility until an agreement was reached . In the short term downside risk seems more probable than markets going up. You cannot time the markets but what would you suggest as a near term strategy to protect your portfolio.

Investment Q&A
Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.
Q: The market sure seemed to like the recent earnings, do you more upside?
Q: First Horizon is down significantly after TD called off the deal. I’m just looking for your opinion on this company as an investment now? It looks like a great buy now with limited if downside. They are profitable and have a history of increasing dividends. Thanks.
Q: Hi Peter, Ryan, and Team,
Lately, Telus is under-performing Bell by quite a lot. On days when both stock prices are increasing, BCE goes up by a greater percentage than T, and conversely, when there's a decline, BCE declines less. We own both in our combined accounts, and Portfolio Analytics indicates that our Communication Services sector should be increased. If we wish to do this, is BCE the safer stock?
Also, is there something going on here that is causing this under-performance of Telus?
Thanks as always for your sage advice.

Q: Can you account for the recent volatility in the stock?
Thanks
Sheldon

Q: Is CLS a buy at this level?
Q: I Believe Nuvei reports before the bell on Wed., can we have the numbers and what your thoughts about the company are over the next 2-3 years.
Thanks
Thanks

Q: I know you sold AC out of the 5i portfolio this year but I opted to wait for a bit.
It has now crawled back to my avg cost price and I do plan on selling. I know this is a 'timing' issue, but could you dust off your crystal ball and give an opinion based on any current information you're hearing, on whether to sell now or wait until after results are announced ?
Thank you.

Aritzia Inc. Subordinate Voting Shares (ATZ)
-
Brookfield Corporation Class A Limited Voting Shares (BN)
Q: Hi Team,
I was looking to add funds to one of the following 3 names: Bn, ATZ, or ATS. If had to choose which name would be the best buy today? My intention is to buy and hold long term.
Separately, what's your take on recent market negativity? Things seem to be escalating to the down side with Powell continuing to have his rosey goggles on continuing to raise rates as banks continue to fail, literally during his bumbling speech telling the world how solid US banks are? I know my confidence in the guy has dwindled as of late. Perhaps now is not a good time to buy and I should wait a bit with any new purchases? Opinion? Thanks
Shane.

Q: One source describes RBC and TD banks as having wide-moats; BNS and CM banks it describes as having narrow-moats.
Do you agree?
Is this something that someone who has a concentrated portfolio should especially heed?
All the best!

By the way, I really appreciate all 5i/Cdn $ Svr does. Thank you!

Global X High Interest Savings ETF (CASH)
Q: I have a few questions about money market ETFs and high interest savings ETFs. Can you suggest one or two MM ETFs or HIS ETFs? Additionally, do they have monthly interest distributions and experience daily price changes? Do these distributions count as taxable interest? Are they available for purchase without charges and do they have management expenses (MERs)? Lastly, are these ETFs tradeable daily with high liquidity?
