Q: My portfolio is significantly over-weight tech and currently paying the price. Semi's (AMD, NVDA, SMH) had propped me up but not anymore. That's the bad news, good news is i have a sizable portion of cash to deploy. Over the next few months, where would you suggest deploying new cash? Which stocks, etf's, or sectors have been unjustly hit the hardest?
The rest of my portfolio is anchored by XIU, BAM, BIP, ENB, CNQ, etc.

Q: Hello 5i,
I am a DIY invesor with ove $1000,000 trading portfolio over 15 years and am up 25% not including dividends on a mix of ETF;s and equities. My expense ratio is ,05% costing $1608. The one standout is HDIV with a cost of 0.65% and an mer of 2.05% probably due to the underlying holdings. Also many of the ETF's are BMO covered calls. I enjoy the monthly dividends. Is all of this reasonable? If not, please suggest improvements.

Q: Hi 5i,
In general it looks like XDGH has outperformed XDG fairly consistently.
Can you help explain?
XDGH has approx. 70M AUM and XDG has approx. 311M AUM.
If one felt the USD was going to get stronger which ETF should one invest in?
If one did not have a view about the direction of USD which one would you invest in?

Q: I was thinking about buying some of this company but with such a diaster of a first quarter I am having second thoughts. Or should I be contrarian and think that everything that could go wrong went wrong (lower grade combined with lower production because of machinery problem, which is now fixed). Or should I just buy some more ARG Amerigo and get the juicy diviidend? I am long term bullish on copper (re: electrifiaction of the world) but I tend to trade my base metal holders due to excessive volitiliity.

Q: I've been looking at the regional and sector allocations of my investments at the total portfolio level (TFSA + RRSP + non-reg), generally buying growth stocks in the TFSA and safer stocks in the RRSP. Does it make sense to continue to look at the allocations and diversify at a portfolio level? Or should I also be looking at it for the 3 individual types of accounts separately?

Q: Hello!

I'm fully invested in the market (just turned 30) and have a small cash cushion on the side. I'm making 6 figures and have all my RRSPs in indexes and TFSA in growth stocks. Went from $100,000 to $65,000 in the last few months in that acct. I wont be using any of the money I'm investing for 10+ years and I'm not really bothered by the drops. My plan is to keep investing monthly in indexes and your picks for my TFSA and non registered account. I will not be selling. Is this a good plan ? Anything else high-level I should be aware of. PS I have no debt and can save half my income and my job is very secure!

Q: Would these type of companies do well in a higher interest rate environment or would they suffer? Because these Co's are both higher risk income stocks, is it better to diversify having both or not? Currently I hold a half position in FSZ, and am contemplating buying FC. What do you think a good entry point would be? Thank so much!
