Q: Hi 5i Team - Could you provide two or three top picks in each of the following sectors: Real Estate, Consumer Staples, Financial, Industrial. Any market cap is fine but with a focus on mid cap. Also with a focus on Canadian Equities.

Q: I'm hearing that pharma and biotech company valuations are at multi year lows. With one chart showing the percentage of US biotechs with market caps below cash value is at a 25 year high, and by a wide margin. Do you feel this sector shows a big opportunity to get good companies for cheap in a sector that will one day improve? If so what companies look best to you in Canada or US? Are there any sectors that are more beaten up? Thx

Q: Portolio Analytics shows that I'm woefully short in fixed income. I am wholly unfamiliar with the category - is it as simple as shopping for the best GIC rate, or are there other, better options I should consider? Please give me some recommendations. Thanks.

Q: Hello Peter,
Are both etfs providing similar exposure to US 500 index (similar to SPY) and are they hedged? Would you recommend one over the other or both are about the same? Thanks very much. Does hedged mean the securities are protected if Canadian dollar goes up or down?

Q: What do you think of twilio's downside from here? Is it a company that that you like once the tech market's calm down. Where do you think the long term upside potential for this company is? What are the pros and cons of this stock, concerning the market they are in and where they rank in it, the financial ratios, insider buying/selling ? Would you consider it a buy, hold or sell at this time? Is this and will this be a dominant player? Thanks

Q: Portfolio Analysis is suggesting I need more Tech and was going to purchase more in my RRSP. Right now I have a full position in KXS,ET and ABST. Half position in LSPD,APPS, AT, MSFT and ENGH. Quarter position in TOI and CSU. I was looking to add SYZ or any other stock you think. Maybe add to my 1/2 or 1/4 positions. Is there any overlap within this sector. Looking for some stability and some growth.

Q: Good day. A little over 1 year ago I allocated about 5% of my portfolio to the high growth/risk stocks. Needles to stay it hasn't worked out as expected. At this stage I am hoping that you can give me insight what the future holds for these companies as an investment. Which should be sold and subsequently move the funds moved into the keepers.
Deduct as many credits as you feel appropriate.

Q: I’m interested in a US bond fund that pays some dividends.

Vanguard has some funds, VFIDX & VICSX that pay 2%+ and appear to suit the bill.

Have you any recommendations in this area?
Is there any reason to stay out of this sector?
What do you forecast the near future, say 3-5 years, to be in US bond funds valuations?

Q: Hello 5i,
Please include the payout ratio in the DIVIDEND section of company information. Payout ration using net income forACOX is 95%. Using operating income it is 11%. Is this correct? There seems to be quite a large discrepancy between the two.
