Q: Hi 5i,
On Feb 1st you included BCE as one of the companies with the safest dividends on the TSX.
On Feb 2nd the answer to a question on BCE was "and its free cash flow has been declining over the past few years. Over the past 12 months, its free cash flow is not sufficient to cover its dividends, and the company has issued debt to service these payments. Its debt-to-equity is climbing, and its net debt/EBITDA is high at 3.6X."
The 2 answers seem to be a bit of a contradiction. I understand you are referencing free cash flow (after capital expenditures) are not sufficient.
Would it have been better said that they are issuing debt to finance capital expenditures and infrastructure than to pay dividends?

Q: In my RRIF , I am looking at selling one of these stocks to buy UMAX for its higher yield and diversified holdings. Forgetting portfolio composition , please provide the order in which you would sell first (1) and then to last (5).
Thanks. Derek.

Q: I hold ROP HEI WSP ATS TFII AXON VRT in the industrial sector. 5i has also recommended TT TDG RTX and URI. I would like to sort out which could be sold [in whole or in part] and which could be added to. For a long-term hold, which could go and which would you advise to be the core for this sector.
Thanks

Q: You responded to an earlier question today about SHOP's decline today with: Yipitdata, a cloud-tracking service, noted it estimated that SHOP gross payments volume growth decelerated 'significantly' over the past week of reporting (to Jan 22). If volume did drop significantly, would this not be something 'significant'? I can see a slight drop that gets washed out over a longer time frame but a big drop all of a sudden isn't a good sign. What would cause a significant drop? Also, how reliable is Yipitdata? I guess what I'm asking is if SHOP is still looked on favourably by 5i? Is there anything to be overly concerned with?

Q: 1. Most gold mining stocks are not going anywhere since 2020. I’m looking for juniors for possible growth. CXB is getting traction since its Marathon Gold acquisition. You have already suggested KNT, KRR, ORLA. I find ORLA interesting and many analysts follow it. Would you compare CXB with the other 3 for future growth?

2. Would you have a reference for ranking countries as per their “friendliness”/risk for mining companies, eg african, latin american ones.

3. Is GDXJ really represent “junior” miners ?

Merci, Denise

Q: It's been a while since we asked about SLP. Share price is largely sideways for the past year. What is your assessment of SLP and are we buyers here? I see a debt free company with next year sales and EPS growth of 12% and 21% and average price target ~40% higher than it is now.

What does the market not like?

I'm looking to add a new industrial and BYD and SLP are being considered. Where does your money go?

Q: JPM has had a decent run but I'm thinking of swapping it for Mastercard. Can I get your thoughts please?

Palo Alto has also been terrific, but I'm trying to add more AI into my portfolio. I'd like to sell it and find a new name, CDN or US. I own MSFT, AAPL, Salesforce, GOOG, Meta, NVDA, Constellation, Shopify and Kinaxis. I was thinking of Taiwan Semi, AMD or Broadcom, but can I get your thoughts please?

Q: In some answers, you have referred to some lending companies being exposed to a "rate risk". I am not clear what that is / when it will impact a lending company. More specific to GSY....is it exposed to a rate risk? How will anticipated falling rates affect it? I know that new highs ( or at lest here a recent one) do not concern you but given its run up in recent months, are its valuation metrics still looking favourable?
Thanks for your excellent service.
