Q: Last week KL announced that they had entered into an agreement to sell almost all the shares that they held in NVO at $2.45 with warrants at $2.80.

My questions are:

1. Has the brokerage assumed control of the shares, or can they back out of the deal, seeing as how NVO shares are now only $2.14?

2. Based on the cash that KL currently has, can you give me tow good reasons why they bailed on NVO at a steep loss?

3. Has E. Sprott bailed as well?

Q: Given my two portfolios (TFSA, Unregistered), I just added in some inheritance - 491 shares of CAE, I'm looking to trim back a good portion and reinvest in some other ideas to accompany my total list of holdings, or add to some current positions you feel are showing promise at todays price action and growth strategy would keep accelerating post covid.

I know you guys like CAE right now, Id like to know how much you feel would be a good trim to keep diversification and what would you recommend to reinvest in? I was thinking of trimming back to $4000 - would you agree?

Q: I realize these are two completely different companies with one dividend producer and one that could rebound significantly post Covid, If you were to choose one of the two for a two to three year return, which one would you pick.

Q: Greetings 5i,
I am looking to make some room in my portfolio and have also recently done well on the REIT rally. Of the three companies listed, would you SELL one of them or trim from all three?
Thank you very much

Q: Peter and His Wonder Team
This is about Capital Gains Tax and Tax Loss Credits. I have 6 accounts: Canadian Cash, USA Cash; Canadian Tax Free, USA Tax Free; Canadian RIF and USA RIF. In terms of taxation is this just 3 accounts to 2 different currencies? Can I write off a loss from my Canadian Cash with a gain on my USA Cash? With the Tax Free Account is it true that you pay no tax on gains but also get no credit for losses?
Thirdly...With the RIF Account is it true that gains and losses are not matched...you only pay tax on the annual amount that must be withdrawn over the years? Thank you for answering my rookie questions!

Q: Hi there,

Shopify has performed remarkably well since IPO and I noticed you've moved it from your growth portfolio and into the balanced equity portfolio. In terms of total stock price appreciation from here, which of the 2 do you think will outperform over the next 5 years? In your personal opinion, which would you buy today?

Thanks!

Q: I am an experienced investor and for years have been selling short strangles, in the money puts and out of the money calls around some of my core position stocks, such MSFT, UNH, SRPT etc with good success.
Last week, I sold naked positions around NFLX, picking Jan 15/2021 expiration, which is before they report earnings and expecting NFLX to be substantially range bound until then.

Sold  NFLX 01/15/21 455 PUT at 15.10
Sold  NFLX 01/15/21 515 CALL at 16.10

The trade is profitable between $424 and $546 and in an unlimited loss position outside the range (a risk I am prepared to accept).

My question is, do you have any stock recommendations, for stocks whose prices are not likely to fluctuate a great deal over a a defined period of time, or any screening methods to identify such stocks, so as to trade puts and calls as I described?

Thanks in advance for your insights.

Q: Hello 5i,
Kirkland recently sold most of its Novo shares .
Interested to know what motivated Kirkland to do so?
Has this sell off or any other events changed your opinion and or outlook with Novo.
You answered another poster recently that you would post what information you were able to uncover.

Please advise.

Thank-you.

Q: Hello -
I'd like to buy ATD.B. It appears to be at a reasonable valuation relative to it's past if I'm interpreting my info from Morningstar correctly. I'm just wondering how much of this comes at the expense of their exposure to transportation fuel. I already own SU, TRP and ENB to know enough of how the association with "dirty" energy knocks down a stock's price.
I know that you like their management. Do you have concerns about ATD.B going forward with all the talk of EV's these days ?
