Q: Hello, I bought AEM at $99. I am thinking of selling it and buy it back after the 30-day tax window.
A) Is the merger with Kirkland Gold fully completed now?
B) Do you think much can happen in the next 30 days with AEM stock price?
C) Let's say I sell AEM on June 6th, can I buy it back on July 6th or is it preferable to wait a bit longer?
Thank you,

Q: AEM and KL have lagged the sector, as represented by XGD, since the announcement in September of the merger. I suspect this is due primarily to investors that hold both lightening up now that they are the same company - I am in that boat myself. How long do you expect AEM/KL to lag, when will it recover relative to the sector, or should I sell and diversify to another name now. What would you regard as an equivalent investment (well run, safe jurisdictions) or should I just move to XGD? I currently hold FNV as well as AEM/KL.

Q: Just like Hal I called my broker and was informed that they hadn't received the bulletin yet on the merger. He advised that I call back to tender my KL shares to the offer the week the deal is closing, and BEFORE the closing date. Could you let me know the date the deal is scheduled to close please?

Q: You advised Robert on Jan 26 to contact his broker to advise he was tendering his KL shares to the offer. When I contacted TD Waterhouse They said they were not aware of anything that needed to be done . Am I ok to just sit on it?

Q: Hello 5i team,
AEM has been on a steady decline since Oct of last year (~70%). Is this around the same time as news came of the merger with Kirkland?

I was thinking of entering into the gold/mineral space since I have no exposure. I looked at the slides for the merger, and paints a rosy picture (synergies, dividend growth, etc...). The markets do not seem to like this merger very much based on the price.

Is there anything you know of that would cause this drop aside from markets in general being weary of company mergers?

Thank You,
Andrew

Q: Hi,
I own both AEM and KL, both with losses that I can use this year or carry forward.
I could sell one of them and buy the other as one question mentioned today. Which one you recommend I sell to buy the other? Or it does not really matter?
Regards
Rajiv

Q: Hi 5i team.
Previously owned KL and AEM.
In October, sold AEM and bought more KL to keep dollar amount same when merger suggested so as to take advantage of tax loss from AEM.
Now that merger is confirmed for supposedly 1st quarter 2022, I am thinking of selling KL to take advantage of some KL tax loss and buy equivalent amount of AEM before the merger.
Question : Is it possible that an offer could still come in at a higher price for KL before the final merger or is that totally off the table. If it is possible I will hold KL till closer to merger time before taking KL tax loss. (I presume this is still legit right up until the merger. My year end is not an issue here.)

Other logistics question re website.
Will a search of questions for dually listed Canadian and US firms bring up all questions whether searching for CA or US version? eg. KL:CA

Thank you for the great service and best of the season to everyone at 5i.

Q: Fortitude Gold is a 2020 listing with a dividend, low P/E, and properties in the U.S. (i.e. as opposed to politically risky areas). Would you buy it? Which options in the gold space would you prefer? (Preferably low/no debt, strong B/S & dividend)
Thanks,

Q: Your thoughts and opinions on the proposed merger of these two companies please (voting this Friday).
I have substantial shares in both. Also, if this puts me overweight in AEM, who would you suggest as a replacement for KL if needed?
Thanks so much for your services.
