Q: With respect to Canadian companies that pay their dividends in US$ ( for example AQN) do you think it is better to keep these shares in the US$ side of my RRSP or the CAN$ side of my RRSP.
I am just thinking in terms of exchange costs every time a dividend is paid.
When and if it came time to sell I could just swing the shares back to the Canadian side.
Thanks very much.

Q: I am thinking of adding an insurance name in my margin account. Both dividend yield and safety are my criteria. How would you rank these three companies?
Q: Is there a site where you can check all the dividend dates and then buy a stock before the ex-dividend date? Do I get the dividend if I sell on the ex-dividend date or need to sell after the ex-dividend date?
Eg: Ex-Dividend Date May 03, 2022 (Do I need to hold on May 3rd, 2022, or I can sell and still get a dividend)
Thanks for the great service.

Q: Hi 5i,
In your recent 5i Screener : Cdn. quality growth stocks at a discount, you highlighted/bolded a number of stocks : TRUL.CD, TSU.TO, LCFS.TO, REAL.TO, MAGT.TO, AT.TO, EAGR.TO and IMCC.CD. Could you indicate your #1 and #2 picks from that list?
Much appreciated.

Q: I recently sold BYD for a tax loss and used MNRO as a proxy - would you keep the proxy, even though BYD has increased in value slightly or buy back BYD? Long term horizon...
Thanks for your service!

Q: What are your thoughts on TCN for real estate exposure at this time?
Q: This stock turned up on a analysts portfolio of 10 defensive stocks. The stocks performance over the past year looks good and although not at an all time high, appears to be at a 5 year high and pays a dividend as well. Your thoughts, please and do you have any other preferred US stocks in this sector. Could you also suggest one or two of your top CND natural gas picks.
Q: Thoughts on the quarter from WBR? Would you be a buyer in the current environment?
Thanks

Q: Hi, At times like these when positions at companies like Shop and Nvda are eroded..when does it make sense to add? Should one wait until the interest rate cycle is over and wait for the tides to turn? What indications should you look out for for growth stocks to rebound? Thanks. Shyam

Q: Hi 5I gang
I just want to confirm that thru this "risk on" period which will sustain for the foreseeable future, I am doing the correct thing by "holding" as opposed to "selling" these growth stocks.

Q: I have relatively small speculative positions in these three companies and I am considering adding to them to reach the 1% level each. They have appreciated in price nicely. May I have your opinion on these three stocks?
With appreciation,

Q: Could you rate these 3 companies for me best first and which would be best to add at this time. I believe they have all moved up recently and am wondering if I have missed the boat. Do you have an alternate choice? Should I add one position or 2 half positions.
Thanks again for your support and wisdom.

Q: Hello 5i Research Team,
David Berman's recent article in the Globe suggested that now may be a good time to buy beaten down stocks in the US home building industry (i.e. builders and suppliers). Would you agree? Either way, could you please rank the listed stocks for a 5-year hold for an investor with an above-average level of risk, and add any better names I've missed.
Thanks!

Q: Pls share your thoughts on this small young actively managed ETF that seeks to provide protection against rising interest rates... Considering for up to 3.5% of the 30% fixed income allocation in my RRSP.

Q: The S&P 500 looks good in the current market and long term, with about 72% in the follow: big tech 26%, financials 14%, health care 13%, communication 10%, consumer defensive 6% and utilities 3%. 5i seems to prefer VFV, but its yield is listed at 1.12% on Yahoo and ZSP at 1.3%: is this because VFV has deducted the 15% withholding tax on US dividends? I assume the 15% would still be withheld in a registered account? Thanks!!
