Q: Greetings:
If I hold shares of the same company in a RRIF account, as well as in 2 separate non registered accounts, and I sell some shares in the non registered account-- do the shares in the RRIF enter into the calculation of the average adjusted cost base for calculation of my capital gain or loss?
Thanks, Ben.

Chord Energy Corporation (CHRD $104.60)
Q: Hello Peter et al:
I have owned Total for several years and it hasn't done much. It is involved in a lot of green initiatives, and more recently has been mentioned in the Adani scandal. Please offer all you can about Total.
I am thinking of selling Total and buying Chord Energy. Please provide as much information as you can about Chord. Holds mostly Enerplus Bakken assets-- Good dividend and maybe a takeover candidate. Would you recommend such a switch? Any other or better USA oil companies you would suggest?
Thanks, Ben.

Q: Hi,
If I invest in a high interest savings ETF like CASH, am I taking risk on my principal? Or am I just taking risk on what interest rate I'm earning?
It seems like there is a bit of a principal risk. Would the price go down if the rates go down?
Thanks,

Canadian Natural Resources Limited (CNQ $42.73)
Q: Hello
Canadian Oil/Gas names and pipelines stocks have retreated this week, possibly, in reaction to news of Trump's proposed tariffs on Canada.
What is the likelihood of these tariffs actually being put in place, with specific reference to Oil and Gas exports to US from Canada ?
If worse happens, would these levies impact Oil/Gas producers/integrated names and pipelines differently ?
Do you consider this week's pullback in these names, as an opportunity to increase exposure to these names and if so, in what order ?
( Noted that 5i bumped SU weight in Bal portfolio, Tuesday )
Thanks

Q: Why the big drop today? Is it warranted? What is your outlook for the company? Is it a buy, sell or hold? Thanks
Q: Can you please share your analysis of Abacus Life Inc on the NASDAQ in the US. As always your insights are greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Q: Your thoughts and analysis on Playtika would be appreciated, thanks.
Q: What are your thoughts on CCL.B in light of potential US tariffs? Would you continue to hold? Is there another stock with similar exposure and less risk of being impacted by the changing administration in the US?
Q: When does TVK report their results and what is expected? The stock has run up quite a lot already this year and while most of the business growth comes from M&A (minimal organic growth) is there still room to strengthen a position or should is it better to wait for a pull back?
Q: Greetings:
I received some shares in Penn in the takeover of Score Media. They are not doing anything. Any chance of a turnaround or move on? What could I replace it with?
Thanks, Ben.

iShares Core S&P/TSX Capped Composite Index ETF (XIC $44.00)
-
iShares S&P/TSX 60 Index ETF (XIU $41.49)
Q: For TSX exposure do you prefer XIC or XIU (or something else?) and why? Thanks.
Q: I have some SHLE and I'm thinking of adding to it, despite its recent run up. It seems quite cheap and substantial gains in profits are expected in 2005. Its taking a hit today, presumable because of Trumps announcement of a 25% tariff on all things from Canada. Yet, Most of Source's business is in western canada. But they do have a site in midland texas too, so i wonder if: a) there is much exposure from sales to/in the US and b) would having a site in the US shield the whole company from tariffs?
You said in response to a recent question on SHLE that you expect profits to more than double in 2025. Does that estimate change if tariffs are in fact enacted?
