Q: I recently sold my Hydro holdings and replaced it with BEP.UN partly to help increase my dividend/income, this was done in a RRSP. Thoughts and a comparison of the two. Also can you comment on the recent announcement of issuing shares of BEPC to buy shares of BEP.UN it looks like BN are not happy with the current price spread of the two.

Q: These stocks are held in my wife's RRIF - just turned 71 - start withdrawing 2026. QSR, NTR ,GSY & GRT.UN small positions. GSY added this year. Thinking of selling GRT.UN - stock has not done much & very small dividend increaser, QSR (500 shs) small position - not big dividend grower - thinking of selling, NTR held fora while - up a fair bit 44%, 500 shs - sell? Comments if you agree with my analysis and if so, what should buy or add to this account?

Q: hello 5i:
the Brookfield companies listed above make up close to 9% of our holdings. In your opinion, is that overweighting one entity too much? Any of the companies could be traded, but finding a comparable, or "better" company in that particular sector eg. utilities, financials, etc; is difficult. Your thoughts, please.
thanks

Q: Is it okay to hold the BIP.UN and BEP.UN within a TFSA without negative consequences? If so, which of the two:
- holds the most long term growth potential in your opinion?
- currently has the cheapest valuation based on what you consider is the best metric for these type of companies (compared to their respective past history).

Q: I am looking at fixed income potential across sectors as a low risk offset to my equities and would appreciate your recommendations. It doesn’t look like the space has good future prospects overall with rates having just dropped.
Of notable options, high interest saving accounts, bond funds, utilities, dividend index’s and perhaps reits, the reits and dividend indexes have superior yields.
Could you please comment on the space overall, which sectors are advisable and possible suggestions for purchase please?

Q: I think a lot of utilities tied to the wind-farm industry have taken quite a hit since Trump came back to tilt at windmills (Orsted, for example). But Trump won't be around forever. Assuming a significant rebound following his demise, what companies provide the greatest opportunity going forward? Please include one or two Canadian investment opportunities in your answer.
Q: Thoughts on this after the U.S. offering which led to selling. Do you still see upside over the next few years if this was bought around 44 dollars? Has anything changed in your thesis about this company? Thanks!

Brookfield Renewable Corporation Class A Exchangeable Subordinate Voting Shares (BEPC $50.96)
Q: In a recent question highlighting the large premium given to BEPC vs BEP.UN, you responded that the stocks are “economically equivalent”. If that’s the case is it reasonable to expect the prices to align more closely with time? I hold BEPC in a non-registered account. Tax considerations aside, would it make sense to sell BEPC from my non-registered account and buy back BEP.UN in a registered account to take advantage of the current large discount?

Q: BEPC is trading at a 42% premium to BEP.UN. I understand the tax implications and ownership of LPs vs Corps, however, what is the real value/share of Brookfield Renewable? Is BEP.UN undervalued and/or BEPC overvalued? As a retail investor, irrespective of tax considerations, which of the two should I consider buying? Thank you.

Q: How can one explain the huge discrepency between those 2 stocks while it's the same company? One can argue that there is a tax efficiency by investing in BEPC but certainly not by this much. Is there a possibility that the difference might shring over time ? What am I missing?

Q: Do you think that BEPC is getting a bit ahead of itself now near $50? Comments on BEP.UN have advised to use Fwd FFO to evaluate. I can’t find an estimate for Fwd FFO, but the last reported full-year FFO I found was $1.83 - bump this by 10% with a $50 unit price implies a 25x Fwd FFO, which I believe is about twice as expensive as a recent BEP.UN valuation.

Q: Hello 5i,
I wanted to ask you about Renewables as i have nothing in that segment. Is there 1 particular renewable company you like/prefer (BEP-UN-T?) over others or would you suggest the better option would be a renewable ETF?
Always appreciate your assistance and insight.

Q: You just published an excellent article by Michael Huynh on Canadian Companies that issue monthly dividends under certain criteria. Is there any chance you have the same criteria used on Canadian companies that issue quarterly dividends with the same criteria. With staggered investments I don't need to be that focused on monthly issuers.
