Q: Happy Holidays everyone! By the time you read this the Holidays should be over and we'll be in 2024 (Question submitted after the closing bell on Friday the 29th). I wish everyone a happy, healthy and richer year.
This question concerns an actively managed Invesco US ETF not available for consultation on your website: SPGP per Invesco's literature is based on the S&P 500 Growth at a Reasonable Price Index (?). It has no holding surpassing 2.1% or lower than .85% and is re-balanced twice a year. It's performance over the last 5 and 10 years is superior to the S&P500.
It seems more favorable to long term holding and sector movements (semi-annual if any) can be quite important. Can you give us your thoughts on this etf and if it has a place in a portfolio risk wise ?
Thank you!
Q: Is this the best instrument for taking advantage of AI for those of us who lack the interest/expertise to determine which stock(s) are superior in this sector? Your suggestions re:alternatives are very welcome… Thanks
Q: In my US denominatedm growth-focused TFSA, I own CRM, PYPL, TOL, AAPL, GOOG, ADBE, QCOM, and NVDA. It is time for me to make my annual contribution.
I am underweight PYPL; should I add to it or replace PYPL with something else? If I should replace it, please suggest two or three good candidates for long-term growth, US-based, sector/cap size unimportant, risk profile somewhere between that of your growth and balanced portfolios. If I remove PYPL, I'd rather add a new position than add to one of my current positions.
In your answer, please do not include MSFT, IBM, PFE or MDT, since I have full positions in these in my other accounts.
I've been a 5i member since 2016 and have been served well by your service; thanks for a great seven years. I remember starting a position in CSU at around $600 and thinking I was 'too late'.
Wishing 5i and all its members all the best for a prosperous 2024.
Q: My wife is going to do an “in kind” transfer from her RIF to her TFSA. She is looking for best total return on a 3 to 5 year hold. Please rank these companies with a few pertinent comments.
Again - much appreciated. ram
Q: Hi 5i,
In looking at decreasing the number of owned stocks, would you have a preference between NVDA and ASML for a long term hold? A bit of explanation for reasons would be helpful.
Thanks.
Given the large percentage increase over the last year do you feel that NVDA still has the possibility of reasonable growth over the next 3 to 5 years?
Q: I am going to do an “in kind”transfer from my RIF to my TFSA. Looking for best total return on a 3 to 5 year hold. Please give me your ranking with a few comments. Much appreciated. ram
Q: I am considering investing in Fair Isaac. Could you please offer your comments on this company and whether or not you consider it a good investment. Your comments would be appreciated. Thank You.
1. Is the capital gains tax the same on CDN and US stocks in a cash account?
2. Does one pay more tax selling US stocks with no dividends in an RSP or cash account?
3. Are the dividends from preferred shares eligible for a tax credit? Or does it depend on the offer?
Q: Hello, As a result of the spinoff I own BAM and BN.. As I understand it: BN remains BAM’s largest shareholder with a 75% ownership stake. And since BN has exposure to several business sectors, I am thinking of keeping my 1100 shares of BN and sell the 275 shares of BAM?
Your thoughts?
Thanks
Carlo
"Dollar bears - A weaker dollar is the expectation for 2024 of most analysts surveyed by Bloomberg amid forecasts that the Fed will lead the way among rich peers in cutting interest rates and that a soft landing in the US's economy will encourage investors to seek risk away from its shores. But strategists at JPMorgan Chase and HSBC are among those who reckon the greenback could still strengthen because the rest of the world will end up needing to reduce rates more to aid their economies. "
Q For 5i: Thoughts on weak $USD thesis relative to $CAD in the short, intermediate, and long term? Do you believe the US FED will cut further or faster than BOC? How does the 5i team see CAD/USD going forward.
i.e. if owning both USD and CDR versions of the same equity, where could one consolidate into, etc.
