Q: Following the recent announcement of investments in infrastructure and other areas by Mark Carney, which companies are expected to benefit from these investments? is WSP one of the potential beneficiaries?

I began investing last year and have the following portfolio/down rounded up: GOOG: 6%, BN 7%, CSU 4%, DOL 4%, ENB 7%, HXS 9.5%, IFC 5.5%, META 4%, SHOP 7%, WSP 5%, AXON 4%, BRKB 6.5%, ISRG 6.5%, NVDA 2.5%, CRM 2%, AEM 1.2%, BAM 6%, H 1%, LMN 2%, AMZN 5%. Q: Looking at the question by Michael on Jacobs today I see a company having 2026 net revenue growth of 6-10 % but a PE of 54 ! Sure it’s a fine company in a good sector but does it really deserve a PE of 54 ? Other solid companies in Canada with historically high PE ‘s such as TRI , WSP , and FSV etc., seem to be going through a valuation revision downward. The question is will the revised valuation remain or will the premium valuation return ? Your thoughts. Thanks. Derek.

Q: Dear 5i team,
I have been a WSP shareholder for over five years. During this time, the share price has sometimes fallen, but my patience has always been rewarded. I am struggling to understand the recent drop in the share price. I believe the Q3 results were solid. I note that competitors in the sector, such as Stantec and Atkins, are also experiencing declines…
Could you explain recent WSP's decline? What is your view on the future of the stock, and if you are confortable to continue holding?

Thank you.

Q: WSP, WCN and X have been trending down in the last few months. What do you see the future growth for these companies in the next 5 years? Are these good entry points or should it be a hold?

Q: The above stocks make up 80.4% of my holdings. Goog and BN @7% each. The next 5 @ 4% each and the rest at or close to 3% each. For a 10 year horizon, with risk/reward in mind, where would you invest if you had 10% of the portfolio in dry powder- new cash. Any you would sell? Note, I have been trimming CLS, VRT and NBIS to control AI exposure.

Thanks again for all the insights - love the service you provide.

Q: WSP Global stock has grossly underperformed its Canadian peers STN and ATRL over 5 Yrs, 1 yr and YTD. ( 1 Yr: 7% v/s 34% ). And the pattern does not appear to change, even after recent earnings. We know that WSP has been held in 5i portfolios for many years and consistently recommended.

Could you please help us understand the reasons for the disparity and rationale to continue to own the stock vis a vis switching to any of the other two ?

BTW: From a technical perspective, stock seems to have lost its momentum and now trading below its 200 Day MA.

Thank You

Q: So I ran with wsp, tri, and gsy in an sdrsp for the equity porrtion. Down on all. Looking forward do you think continuing to hold these three in an sdrsp is a good move? Or do you think changing one or all for better blue chip companies is warranted? If so what do you suggest?

Q: Hi
It does not appear that their earnings were bad, yet the drop seems harder than I would expect with a consolidation - but I'm probably just overly nervous whenever I see a 4% slide on a company I believe is usually a very stable holding. Is it possible shareholders are dumping over concerns that the US government shutdown will hold things up for WSP?

Back on Sep 1st, Alexandre L'Heureux was recorded as follows on Bloomberg:
"Alexandre L’Heureux says that so far the halting of government services and permitting has had a “minimal impact” on the Montreal-based company, which has a big presence south of the border.

But he says the entire engineering and construction industry will suffer if legislators fail to reach a deal and resume federal operations soon."

However this statement is a long time ago, so I am not sure it is having any affect today.

Thanks!
D

Q: Retired, dividend-income investor. I am a little short on Industrials and am looking for a few ideas for me to do further research. I have a full position on WSP (trimmed it multiple times, having bought it at $36 in 2014). I also own CDZ, ZLB, ZWC, each having roughly 10% industrials.

Some initial ideas I have include CNR, TFII, and other stock and ETF ideas from you. I would prefer that you screen for having a dividend (>2%-?).

Thanks for your help....Steve

Q: There appears to be a growing trend toward the building of small nuclear reactors for energy. It seems ARE and ATRL are best positioned in the segment. ARE just announced a project in the US and both are involved in the building of the reactors PM Carney announced. I know you like STN and WSP. I have a good position in WSP and have done well with the stock but I am noy sure if it is involved in this sector. Your thoughts please.
