Q: I've held a DRIP (in BNS) for about twenty years. It used to be run by the company itself but now is run by Computershare. I liked it in the days when discount brokers could do dividend reinvestments, but that advantage is gone (except for the fractional shares). Also it used to offer a 10% discount on reinvested dividends but no longer does. I am wondering if it is worth keeping the shares in this account, with the main benefits gone and the drawbacks of only being able to buy/sell at month's end still in place, or if I should have them transfered to my unregistered discount brokerage (assuming I can do an in-kind transfer). What do you think?

Q: Would appreciate your guidance on capital gains reporting to CRA when a US stock in a USD trading account is sold - where does one obtain the relevant USD to CAD conversion rate if that is not provided on tax slips/statements?
Thank you.
Thank you.

Q: I have owned FSZ for a few years now and while the dividend is approx 8% the stock has not grown, in fact its lower now then it was 3 years ago. Looking to sell FSZ and looking for some suggestions as to what to purchase regardless of sector that will pay a divided with growth that will exceed the dividend of FSZ. I do not see a lot of growth for FSZ.

Q: I would like more USD for travelling to the US. I hold all of the above stocks at Questrade, in both registered and unregistered accts. I asked Questrade to please pay the dividend directly in USD (as paid by the companies), but they said "We would have to journal your positions over to the USD equivalent in order to receive the dividends in USD." Should I journal over the CAN shares to the US equivalent; eg AQN.TO to AQN.US? It would involve a very large amount of money, could I expect a better USD exchange rate with greater volume or would they simply use the day's spot rate?
Q: Please provide your assessment of this security. Once a market darling, now crushed during the market correction. I’m
Holding this at a 15% loss.
Do you see it as solid reopening trade stock?
Would you hold, sell or buy more?
Thank you

Q: Hi Team,
Hypothetical question. I have read certain clips or articles of people thinking that Topicus can have more potential growth wise than Constellation in the long term because they are perhaps more aggressive. Is there any truth to this? Also, your best educated guess... do you think eventually TOI will be able to end up with the same market cap (todays numbers) as CSU within the next 10yrs or so? Just trying to guage the real long term potential of this company. Thanks
Shane.

Q: Am looking at each of Norsemont (NOM) and Starr Peak (STE) as possible speculative buys given the putative mining boom (and ongoing oil & gas boom) that is upon us. What are your thoughts? Thanx!

Q: Both of SQ and TWLO had taken a beating recently . Do you see them as a hold and wait or do you think it's time to sell ? Thank you for your opinion .
Q: David Burrows is one of my favourite analysts. On BNN today, he indicated that he feels we have transitioned from a period of falling interest rates that has seen a few sectors, particularly commodities stocks, perform very poorly, while other sectors, particularly technology, have been bid up to very high levels. He believes we are into a new inflationary cycle that will greatly benefit different sectors in the long term, particularly commodities like metals and O & G stocks. He feels that money managers are using high priced technology and other similar stocks that worked in a deflationary environment as sources of cash and putting that money into sectors that will benefit from inflation, and that this could go on for years. Wondering what your take would be on this as a likelihood over the next several years.

Q: Have funds in a US RSP account to top up one or both and underwater on both with the recent tech pullback. at equal 1.5% weighting. which has greatest upside over the next 2-3 years? Or, would you have a better US tech recommendation for this timeframe? Already own GOogle and Nvidia. Thank you.
Q: Could you give me an update on CRNC and why the sell off?

Q: I am currently heavily invested in Canadian stocks but have insignificant exposure/diversification to the US market. At 64 yo I'm favouring simplicity and considering a significant investment via an Index fund ETF (10 year + timeframe). This will not be in a registered account. I'm considering Vanguard, BMO, or iShares. Which would you suggest? And could you please provide the appropriate ticker symbol. Thanks for your valued assistance.

Q: How would you rank these for adding to my TFSA today? They have all been beaten up, but are good stocks. Thanks as always!
Q: Further to Denise's question Wednesday about seeking ways to reduce taxes when receiving OAS, I have found that the purchase of Flow Through shares helps reduce my taxes. I know they say Flow Throughs are mainly for those in the highest income bracket, but they help all tax payers reduce taxes payable . I guess it is a question of "how much" does it help
