Q: Hi, Please comment on TOU earnings. Also, is the stock a good buy at current levels, as a best positioned company for Nat Gas exposure and a no brainer with $$$ return to shareholders via quarterly special dividends of $1.50 - $2 for rest of 2022 and 2023, in addition to tight Nat Gas market with Russia situation ? Thanks

Thanks

Q: Hello. What is your favourite ETF to give gold exposure or is there a specific company you prefer? What are the plus and minus's for your answer and what would be your preference and why? What is the importance of whether the gold is stored in Canada or U.S? What does gold do at times such as this? Inflation? Economical uncertainty?
Thank you for your time.

Q: In my ongoing search for yield, I have generally been pleased with HHL. As you know, it is a fund that equally invests in 20 large cap global health care companies and employs an active covered call strategy. The recent yield range has been ~ 8.50-9.0%. It is a 5% weight in overall portfolio.

I am comfortable with their core equity exposure, as they are all brand names that investors know well. And I am comfortable with its performance relative to broad market performance/sentiment. My question is relatively simple. Is this yield too good to be true, and do you think that 8.50-9.0% suggests excess leverage/risk. I do note that their monthly payout has been steady and there has never been a cut in the distribution.

Thank you.

Q: shop reported this morning. call is still to come. 5i continues to endorse it as a top growth pick but price continues to fall. looking from a macro view, is 5i trying to catch a falling knife. for those who followed your recommendation many months ago, its been a terrible ride down. after call, I expect 5i to remain positive and endorse buying at these new lower levels. Can you explain why shop is so special and warrants all this positive attention. The ceo was touted as a strong point but he admits he got things wrong. I'm fortunate I bought very early, sold most but still hold a small position. my confidence with shop and 5i grows thin. looking for comments after call. sell, hold or buy?

Q: Would appreciate your guidance on building a healthcare portfolio with these names and any other suggestions divided into 2 categories [1] core [to constitute the bulk of the portfolio] and [2] growth, for a 3+ year hold. If you could add a few thoughts on each as to why you like or not, that would be most helpful.
Best wishes

Q: Hi 5i,

Looking for your top 2 or 3 fixed income recommendations for the market we're in, and where you feel we may be headed in the next 12-24 months. Looking for some bond ETFs, preferably Canadian listed.

Criteria is primarily capital preservation with some return to blunt the impact of inflation, and of course liquidity. I want to hold dry powder for buying opportunities I believe will come with recession, but I hate the idea of sitting in cash.

Thanks!

Q: My discount broker provides the following comments under a comment heading for clients buying corporate bonds of Canadian banks:

"Bail In" or "Bail-In -debt"

Can you please explain why some bonds of Canadian banks have such a comment attached to them while other bank bonds do not?
Thanks

Q: What are your updated thoughts on OBE? I have a partial position and planned to increase to a full position until their news release today. In such a strong oil and gas environment, why does a company need to commit to an 11.95% interest rate on 5 year notes. Am I missing something, OBE scores well on a number of metrics that I monitor so I thought they would be able to negotiate a better interest rate.
