Q: My wife's adviser is recommending the following mutual fund for her RRSP. Could I get your opinion on the Edgepoint Global portfolio Mutual fund. Fund code- EDG100. MER around 2.13% about 6 billion under management- past returns have been strong. I am always cautious when I see such high MER's. Do you think this is a good one fund solution, if you went with ETF's instead of this mutual fund which ones would you recommend?
Thank you!

Q: I own pretty much all the stocks in your model portfolio (other than GC, PKI, SJ, and SYZ) and about 1/2 of your growth portfolio. I also own a number of ETFs, including VXC, VCN, VAB, CDZ, SPY, XAW, and VXUS. I was doing a review of my portfolio and noticed that the ETFs above now make up 20% of my portfolio. A couple questions:
1) Are some of these ETFs redundant in my case?
2) What sector allocation would you suggest for 2018?

Q: Good morning Peter and team,

I am planning on setting aside 3% of my total portfolio for stocks that either have a good potential for long-term growth (i.e. set it aside and hope to have a multi-bagger in 10 years).
I currently own SHOP and would appreciate 3-4 more names you would suggest I consider, including a way to play the Artificial Intelligence space (is Horizons ROBO ETF a suitable option?).
Please disregard all B.E. Portfolio stocks (which I already own) and sector/market cap don't matter. I would prefer to stick to Canadian exchanges.

Thanks in advance,
Rory

Q: Thank you for continued great support and unbiased opinions.

I plotted a few favourite 5i Technology stocks with high P/Es along with the Vanguard Information Technology ETF (NYSEARCA:VGT). Except for CSU (crazy +ve outlier),
they all cluster closely in returns over the long-term (i.e. 15+ years).
So, why bet on a few horses with such risk (P/E > 50) when one can own the track, make about the same return, with much less risk (P/E = 6.6)?

I think we all understand the advantages of ETFs in general, but considering the high P/Es specifically in the Tech sector, it really begs the question above. Thank you.

Q: What would be your recommended ETF's for the following sectors that would provide safety and a regular monthly income . Financial, Consumer, Utilities ,, Energy, and Healthcare. I have noticed that you generally prefer for retired conservative investors like me to follow more the income portfolio.
Your comments and recommendations are appreciated. Thanks.
