Q: Hi,
How will a transportation company be able to make money in an environment with high gas prices, high inflation, high interest rates and short supply of workers? Unless they are able to transfer the costs to the customer..Even so will it impede their growth? Thanks.

Q: I see an opportunity to be greedy when everyone else is fearful. In June 2021, AcuityAds Holdings sold a total of 5,665,025 common shares at a price of US$10.15 per share, for gross proceeds to the Company of US$57,500,003.75. As of the last quarterly report they still have the proceeds of this public offering sitting unused on their balance sheet. They have just announced a normal course issuer bid to repurchase up to 5,350,000 common shares. ATY closed at US$3.34, more or less unchanged today, after initially popping on news of their share repurchase. To me, this seems like a no-brainer for ATY: sell at US$10.15 and buy at US$3.34. At today's closing price, ATY could repurchase 5.35 million shares for US$17.9 million and still have nearly US$40 million left in the bank from their public offering!! I don't see any fundamental change in ATY's business prospects since June 2021. ATY is currently 1.6% of my holdings and I am wondering why I wouldn't keep buying shares at current prices until it reaches a full weight of 2.5%. What am I missing? Should I be greedy or fearful? I would appreciate your insights.
Q: Thank you for your great service I look at the questions almost every day. My question is about Shopify it looks to me that it has broken some support level. Could this mean the next level of support is back in the march lows of 2020? My technical analysis is not very good so please correct me if I’m wrong.

Copperleaf Technologies Inc. (CPLF $11.99)
-
Coveo Solutions Inc. Subordinate voting shares (CVO $8.83)
Q: I bought the above 3 companies when they IPO. CVO and CPLF have lost almost half their value. Should I sell and the loss.? And what do you think of MAGT?

Q: Further to your earlier answer on commodity prices dropping because of a rising US dollar...
Doesn't a rising US dollar actually HELP Canadian producers as they receive more for their products? And would that rise not be counteracted in any case by an anticipated further rise in Canadian rates - which would likely raise the CAN$? Is Mr. Market just reacting in a knee-jerk fashion here?

Q: I have some money in my RRSP and would like to buy some US stocks. Could you recommend your top picks you think are priced to buy now, which gives 3% or more dividend. Also any you would wait on, and what price point you would enter. Thanks so much!

Q: Dear 5i team.
I'm trying to understand the impact of the recent fight between Disney and the State of Florida. What would you estimate the impact to be if Florida strips Disney of their special status to govern themselves. To be honest, I'm not sure if this will have any impact as it may be a zero sum game if the surrounding municipalities collect a tax to provide the services Disney does and pays for itself now? Is that too simplistic?
Appreciate your opinions.

Q: The Canadian energy sector is taking a hit today (Apr 21) despite oil prices being up. What's behind this? Is it falling in sympathy with general commodities (metals, agriculture), which are also plummeting today?
Q: Goeasy is a great buying opportunity under $120 ($119.30 as I write) with a 3% dividend, 7/8 years of dividend increases plus great management, great growth, etc. I'm thinking people are afraid of inflation (I'm 70 so been there) or repositioning funds. Even with a full weight 5% posn I am tempted to add. Your thoughts on going over weight.
Q: Morning 5i,
I know there have been many recent questions on GSY but I'll still ask:
To me GSY is acting very volatile and I wonder if you agree that it's behaving more like a stock that's being traded than a name that's attracting investors? If I'm right in that, do you have any thoughts as to why, and by rights shouldn't a relatively large financial services company be much more stable than GSY is at present. Its current yo-yo behaviour doesn't instill much confidence, in me at least.
Thanks, and I look forward to your thoughts.
Peter

Q: Hi Peter, I have 300 shares of CM in a margin account and 20 in my TFSA since they are splitting I thought it would be a good idea to transfer some (what I can contribute) into my TFSA, 1. Your thought on that and 2. Is there a way to do this rather than selling them in one and buying them back in the other and when is it better, before or after the split. Please take as many credits for this question as needed. Thanks for your valued opinion. Nick
