Q: I have owned Russel 2000 Growth, as per your model growth fund for several years and over the long haul it has been a good performer. Thanks so much as usual!
I have recently read a couple of different articles referencing the potential for small cap value to perhaps outperform the market over the coming period of economic growth (ever the optimist). In particular, Simon Consable's article yesterday in the Wall Street Journal "Small ‘Value’ Stocks Are Down but Not Out" These stocks are still amongst the markets biggest losers year to date. What are your thoughts on this hypothesis and would adding the Russell 2000 value be a reasonable way to play this? Are there any individual stocks that you currently like that would fit this thought that are yet to rally?
As always, thanks for the great advise and service,
John

Q: Hi 5i Team,
We've just moved my sprite 87-year old mother's $72,000 from her broker to Questrade. It's a non-registered account and we are trying to make decisions on where to put it with special consideration to taxation.
One option I've discovered is Horizon Corporate Class Funds (a company called Purpose also has them).
It's suite of around 15 funds which include a few different equity types (TSX index, Euro and international stocks, and sectors like financials and energy) a few different bond types, and things like dividend and preferred share funds. As I understand it, one can buy and sell within this suite without triggering a taxable sale.
Beyond that, I don't know much about the tax structure so am turning to you. I wonder if you see this as a good place for this money.
Also curious about your opinion on preferred shares in general. They strike me as a good option for my mother's situation but my financial advisor considers them a thing of the past.
Thanks as always for your wisdom on this site. I'm delighted I bought a subscription.

Q: Good morning guys:
If you were going to start slowly with the airlines , would you buy air canada or southwest . My portfolio consists more of the stocks in the states so I am leaning southwest. Could I get your opinion on which name you would side with.
Thank you
Mark

Brookfield Infrastructure Partners L.P. (BIP.UN $42.38)
-
Brookfield Infrastructure Corporation Class A Exchangeable Subordinate Voting Shares (BIPC $55.65)
Q: The gap between these two tickers seems to continue to widen.
BIP.UN yields over 4.5% and BIPC 3.9%. Even with the dividend tax credit, the aftertax dividend cash flow is much high from BIP.UN. Am I going crazy? I have been wanting to step in here for a long time (definitely miss the "boat to a certain extent) but why wouldn't I invest in BIP.UN?

Q: Hello,
Your choice between KEY, PPL and ENB for some growth but mostly income within an RRSP. Do you still see KEY as a potential take over candidate.

Q: Company Release from June 8
Questor Technology Inc. announces that John Sutherland, the Company’s Chief Operating Officer, has decided to retire effective immediately.
Stock moved up on this 'sudden' news. Any insight why and what it might mean in the future? Could it mean he wasn't the person for the new normal that QST will need to adapt to?

Q: Any reason for the big spike in volume and price today? Pretty nice to see
Q: Of the three currently, which in your view has the biggest up side for a new Tech position?
Q: With the increased sentiment for natural gas and the 15% increase in this stock would you consider it a speculative purchase at this time? I realize debt is high.
Q: Few weeks ago I have sold my position in BEP.UN at a profit and I need to increase weight % for utilities. Would you buy BEP.UN again at current price or add to existing AQN position. This is for long term hold in well deversified portfolio.
Q: Goodmorning

Brookfield Infrastructure Corporation Class A Exchangeable Subordinate Voting Shares (BIPC $55.65)
Q: I was under the impression both shares held the same assets and differed only in structure- Corp versus trust. Now I heard BIPC only owns Nat gas transmission in Brazil and regulated utility in UK. Can you please confirm if this is correct. If it is what is NAV of both shares.
Thanks for your service.
Steve

Q: Is Pason Systems an attractive value-buy at current price around $8-9? Considering that oil demand and cycle will turn in future there could be good future growth opportunities in my view with more investments in drlilling/rig side as well as analytics and technology tools. What is 5i view on this aspect?
Q: Hi,

Q: Hi, Over past 2 weeks markets have seen a rotation from Technology sector and the Stay Home stocks ( like Netflix, Shopify, Alphabet and others) into Cyclical sectors (Banks and Industrials). Airlines, Cruiselines and Gaming/Entertainment ( like WYN etc ) stocks have also shot up recently. This sector rotation seems to be based on belief that with economy reopening ( and Federal Reserve with an endless supply of money/support), recovery may be much faster and stronger.
With this noticeable shift in market positioning, we would like to participate and hope to benefit in near as well long term. We have 15% weight in Canadian Banks. But among Industrials, only companies owned by us are CNR, RPI.un and BYD. We also started a small position in AC and Boeing, on Friday, with intentions to build over time.
We are looking for companies in this sector with strong fundamentals which are trading at a discount to their historical levels, for COVID related factors and depressed market sentiment. Could you please recommend a few names in Canada and US. Thank You
