Q: Hi there, although predictions are kind of a guessing game, based on all your professional experience, do you foresee the SP500 and NASDAQ continuing to perform well in 2020? I am thinking of putting 10 percent of my portfolio in a SP500 etf and 10 percent in NASDAQ 100. I currently have no US exposure. What are your thoughts and which ETFs would you suggest for this play? Thank you and Happy Holidays!

Q: In a brief release I see MAXR is being taken out by private equity for $1B, but the rise in share price this morning has the Mkt Cap at $1.26B. Can you explain the difference, e.g., does the 1B include or exclude debt carried by the company, is this a signal someone else might come in higher? What is your recommendation, hold or sell into this strength?

Q: My wife and I have a plan to invest a total of 50 000 dollars in 5 Canadian companies beginning January 1 and cashing out Dec.31st. So we want to generate as much income as we can over that one year period and use the potential profits to take a decent holiday. What 5 stocks would you suggest? Q: Read u comments on Oct 3,in summary,no big rush to own it as the negatives outweight the positives. In light of the recent events,please provide u updated comments as I am considering to establish a position.HuaWei,(not listed) beat its main competitors,ERIC & NOK in the 5G sector by a wide margin.However USA is pressuring the rest of the world not to use Hua Wei for national security reasons.On 18,rumour that China is exerting pressure on Germany over Hua Wei.On Oct 19,Greenland picks ERIC over Hua Wei.Also ERIC announced that it is teaming up with MSFT for next generation of connected cars On Oct 20,announced that it is increasing its credit facilities to US$150m,of which $98m is to repay existing loan & balance for 5G research. ERIC was doing nicely prior to Oct 19 when it dropped 0.40 to $8.80 from $9.20.On Oct 20,it initially declined but closed unchanged @ $8.80. Its Q results since Q1,2016 were inconsistent .But Q3 reported on Oct 17/19 showed EPS of 0.18, beating estimates by 157.14%.Are there any US firms entering the 5G sector? I currently hold ZWE in my TFSA and I have two questions as follows:

a. Given that there is a witholding tax on ZWE when held in a TFSA, I was wondering if it would not be better to simply sell ZWE and buy it back in my RSP instead. I note that in one of your responses to a similar question, you recommended that ZWE be held in a Non Registered account. Not sure that I understand the rational for this over holding ZWE in an RRSP. Your thoughts on this would be appreciated.
b. Do you think that it is wise to invest in Europe, UK in particular at this time and if so, would you recommend a change from ZWE to another ETF with a better growth opportunity and if so which one?

Q: Dear 5i,
I initially purchased BIP.UN on the Canadian exchange and "journalled" it to BIP on the American exchange because BIP.UN pays a dividend in US dollars.

When BIPC gets created from BIP.UN:
1. will BIPC be traded on the Canadian exchange?
2. will BIPC pay dividends in Canadian dollars?
